Crimson Desert: The Screaming Vault Puzzle Guide

There are multiple ways to get Abyss Artifacts in Crimson Desert. You can acquire them through combat, restoring power in the Abyss, rewards from quests, and of course, solving puzzles. Crimson Desert has a ton of puzzles that involve the player activating an Abyss Cresset, which always rewards an Abyss Artifact.

One of the tougher puzzles is the Screaming Vault, a puzzle that requires players to locate symbols in the surrounding area and then use those symbols to activate the Abyss Cresset. These symbols can be tricky to find, but there is a crucial clue within the vault that can help you locate them.

The Screaming Vault Location

The Screaming Vault can be found west of the city of Demeniss. You can find the exact location of this puzzle in the image attached, where my character's waypoint and the red X are located.

When you arrive at the Screaming Vault, it will seem like there is nothing to do there. However, there is an opening in the ground that leads to the underground section. Jump down into this hole to find the Screaming Vault puzzle in Crimson Desert.

How to Solve the Screaming Vault in Crimson Desert

When you first enter the Screaming Vault in Crimson Desert, watch out for the two traps that shoot arrows across the room and spikes from the floor. You can easily avoid this by dodging rolling forward into the next room.

The objective of the Screaming Vault is to rotate three dials with symbols on them so they are aligned correctly. To figure out how these dials should be aligned, you need to find three scarecrows in the surrounding area. These three scarecrows show the correct alignment of each symbol.

However, finding these scarecrows is no easy task since there are a ton of scarecrows in the surrounding area. Luckily, there is a map on the wall inside the Screaming Vault with three red X's, showcasing the location of the three correct scarecrows.

If you want to use the map to find the scarecrows yourself, I recommend taking a screenshot of it before exiting the Screaming Vault. If not, we have the locations for you in the following sections.

Scarecrow Location #1

The first scarecrow is found not too far from the Screaming Vault. It's located just north of the vault, next to large structures made of hay, on brown dirt. The correct alignment of the symbol can be found on the scarecrow itself, as well as the ground.

Scarecrow Location #2

The second scarecrow can be found northwest of the first scarecrow. This scarecrow is also right next to a large structure made of hay, making it pretty easy to spot from a distance.

Scarecrow Location #3

The third and final scarecrow can be found further north, in a large dirt field. This one can be pretty tricky to find since the symbol marked on the ground blends in with the color of the dirt.

The Screaming Vault Solution

After investigating the scarecrows with the symbols on them, you can officially solve the Screaming Vault puzzle in Crimson Desert. You can find the solution to the puzzle in the image attached above.

If you rotate the dials to the correct positions, and the Abyss Cresset doesn't activate nearby, then that means that the symbols may be slightly off. It took me a handful of tries to get the positioning exactly right, so make sure to observe the image I have above very closely.

Once you rotate the dials to the correct position, the Abyss Cresset will activate nearby and you can grab the Abyss Artifact. This item will help you with upgrading equipment, unlocking skills, and increasing stats.
