The minds behind Critical Role have proven themselves time and again to be masters at creating fantastical worlds and adventures for its cast to embark on, all for the enjoyment of fans across the globe. Alongside three actual-play Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, Matthew Mercer and his fellow co-founders have all had a hand in developing multiple miniseries, animated adaptations, and spinoff adventures for Dungeons & Dragons, Daggerheart, and Candela Obscura.

Critical Role has released several tie-in books and adventures already, but there's a new one on the way. As revealed by Wargamer, the Daggerheart adventure, titled Road to Nowhere, was written and designed by Jack Panic of DNGN CLUB. Panic is an indie TTRPG designer and graphic artist, well known for crafting RPG supplements and indie horror — which makes their venture into Road to Nowhere all the more fitting — it's an adventure directly tied to Critical Role's currently airing gothic-horror miniseries, Age of Umbra: Sallowlands.

Sallowlands takes place in the Halcyon Domain, a swathe of badlands that features brutal adversaries and grim, gruesome environments. It used to be a very different, more hopeful place, but that soon changed after the gods abandoned the world and let Umbra, an ethereal mass, corrupt everything it touched.

Road to Nowhere takes place in the Sallowlands, and as you can see from the beautiful key art below, seems to focus on the desert-like site of the Sallowlands. The adventuring party briefly ventured through the desert to get to the Tower of Oxudos in Sallowlands' second episode of the six-part series. While an official location name wasn't revealed (in the episode, or in Wargamer's exclusive), we assume that Road to Nowhere's tie-in is at least related to that area.

Wargamer wasn't able to reveal anything about what Road to Nowhere's adventure would be about, but did hint that the vibes would be a mix of "Mad Max meets The Phantom Menace." Wargamer also released an excerpt about Nowhere, the city that plays a big part in this tie-in adventure.

Traveling at breakneck speeds for week at a time is the convoy-city of Nowhere - a horrifying collection of mechanical vehicles, called Deadrigs, daisy-chained into three sprawling mega-structures that race across both the living highway's back and the arid sands of the Sallowlands…

The zine for the adventure from Panic will be available during Gen Con, which takes place from July 30 to Aug. 2. Event-goers who want a physical copy will be able to grab one at Darrington Press' Gen Con booth for $5. However, a free PDF will be available on Darrington Press' official website starting Aug. 12.
