If you’ve ever wondered whether your local government officials might be literal blood-sucking vampires, this one’s for you.
The new season features the core cast of Intrepid Heroes — Emily Axford, Ally Beardsley, Brian Murphy, Zac Oyama, Siobhan Thompson, and Lou Wilson — led by game master Brennan Lee Mulligan. In partnership with the transmedia entertainment brand White Wolf, City Council of Darkness is using the Vampire: The Masquerade TTRPG system.
“The season follows a brood of flamboyant goth vampires exiled from their ancient castle and forced to assimilate into a painfully wholesome small town, where they unexpectedly find themselves running the local government,” an official description reads. “Between zoning disputes, bloodthirsty urges, and mandatory bake sales, it’s undead chaos in the quaintest hellscape imaginable.”
"I must feed — take me to the shadows!” Mulligan says in character at the start of the trailer. “All of this is nothing more than a tattered shroud on the sucking bloody maw of the Beast." Then every vampire at the table shrieks, hisses, and feeds. Mulligan’s character assigns the players the task of establishing “a vampiric dominion” over the town of Purpee, Oregon in order to have their transgressions forgiven. (That’s a fictional town, by the way, but it oddly enough evokes purple oregano, sometimes called Drops of Jupiter oregano.)
The rest of the trailer is a chaotic montage of character introductions and quip-heavy encounters typical of Dimension 20. Brian Murphy appears to be playing some kind of vampire with Batman vibes, who says multiple times that he’s a superhero. Emily Axford plays his partner, a katana-wielding vampire. Lou Wilson and Ally Beardsley also appear to be a pre-established duo, dressed in dapper suits. Zac Oyama plays a denim-clad, mullet-wearing vampire with a butterfly knife. Siobhan Thompson’s character is a red-haired vampire with a thick accent who talks about “writhing, naked nuns.” Dimension 20’s core cast is back — and they’re firing on all cylinders.
The 14-episode season begins airing weekly on April 8.
