Over the last ten years, the video game industry has changed dramatically. Whether it’s the dominance of digital over physical media, the rise of gacha games or, in this case, Summer Game Fest replacing E3.

Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was the biggest and most impactful gaming event of the year, at least in North America, featuring some of the most bombastic announcements, showcases and interviews. It was a spectacle like no other and an event we at DualShockers covered on many occasions.

It was also something that had its ups and downs. It grew into this massive force, but with everyone now being online, companies were able to get their announcements and information to their fans much easier, and because of that, E3 eventually faded into the background.

With that said, many game events continue to go strong, as Gamescom (Germany) is the largest in the world from a consumer and attendance perspective, and there was even a Latin America event not too long ago.

With all of that said, Geoff Keighley, host of the Game Awards, has helped replace E3 with his own Summer Game Fest for the past few years. It occurs right around the same time as E3 would have happened and even takes place in Los Angeles. It has some of the biggest announcements of the year and there are tons of hands-on opportunities to be seen.

With all of that said, we are happy to announce that DualShockers will not only be covering the various announcements from the event, but we will be attending Summer Game Fest 2026 in-person. We will be at the Live event, not to mention getting time with numerous exciting upcoming games.

This means we will be bringing you the latest hands-on impressions of games from big publishers such as Bandai Namco, Capcom and Microsoft. That is on top of talking to some of the brightest and most talented game developers out there, to get more information on the games they are working on.

Stay tuned to DualShockers for all your Summer Games Fest coverage as it comes in over the next week!
