The assassin Jhin finally makes his way to Riftbound in the Unleashed set

In League of Legends, Jhin isn’t just a psychopathic serial killer. He views murder as an art form. The masked Ionian marksman often known as “The Virtuoso” stages his elaborate murders like performances. He also has a weird obsession with the number four. His hand cannon, Whisper, carries only four shots with that final bullet channeling dark magic to deal bonus damage. “Using his gun as his paintbrush, Jhin creates works of artistic brutality, horrifying victims and onlookers,” his official description reads.

Now that he’s making his way into the Riftbound trading card game with the third set called Unleashed, his obsessions frame the focus of the cards he’s featured on. The expansion launches in China on April 10, followed by an English release on May 8. In it, there’s a wave of new Champion Legends — including Jhin — alongside mechanics like Ambush, XP, and Hunt.

Polygon can exclusively reveal a new art treatment for his legend card, Jhin - Virtuoso. In the base version of the card, a brightly lit Jhin stands front and center, holding up his gun. But in the premium full-art treatment illustrated by Blaine Burgos, Jhin is positioned at a more dynamic angle that allows us to see more detail in his mask. He’s also gazing lovingly at what’s probably the fourth bullet for Whisper.

Jhin’s ability here naturally focuses on the number four. Whenever you play a spell that costs four or more energy, you can banish it. Once you have banished four spells this way, you trash each of them, channel four runes, and draw one card. So if you’re able to play expensive spells and pull off this move, you’ll wind up with a lot of extra runes to use. It’s a powerful ability that can lead to explosive turns once that fourth spell comes together.

That kind of delayed payoff pairs naturally with the other Jhin cards already revealed for Unleashed. His Champion Unit card can move between battlefields using its Ganking ability, generating additional resources each time it does so. Those extra runes help fuel other cards like Curtain Call, his signature spell, which features the Repeat mechanic, allowing players to pay additional costs to stack multiple effects in a single turn.

Taken together, all of these cards emphasize a playstyle that feels very on-brand for Jhin. Rather than overwhelming opponents with constant pressure, Jhin decks build around careful setup appropriate for an expert marksman. You move things into position, bank resources, and wait for the right moment to take your big shot.

Like Jhin himself would probably say, it’s all about making the fourth move count.
