For All Mankind renewed for sixth and final season on Apple TV

Time to say goodbye to the most elite space show on TV

Ahead of the nail-biting return of its fifth season, Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi's acclaimed sci-fi drama For All Mankind has been renewed for a sixth and final season.

Set in an alternate history where the "global space race never ended," For All Mankind first arrived on the scene during the global launch of Apple TV in 2019.

“From being one of the first Apple Originals to launch on Apple TV in 2019, ‘For All Mankind’ has remained an innovative, epic sci-fi series that has enthralled fans season after season,” Matt Cherniss, the head of programming for Apple TV, said. “As one of Apple TV’s most enduring and celebrated series, it has delivered time and again because of the extraordinary artistry of visionary storytellers Ron, Matt, and Ben, along with our partners at Sony, and we can’t wait for people to experience how this story comes to its exhilarating conclusion when the final season debuts next year.”

Season five of For All Mankind arrives on Apple TV on Mar 27, with the tenth and final episode of the season concluding on May 29. The season will focus on the Mars colony, Happy Valley, which has grown significantly as more colonists join in the hope of expanding space travel and further exploring the solar system. Unfortunately, there is trouble on the horizon for Happy Valley, with tensions between the people of Mars and those on Earth threatening to boil over into chaos.

“Getting to explore the For All Mankind universe over six seasons has been an amazing privilege, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to finish the story the way we’ve always hoped,” Wolpert and Nedivi said in a joint statement. “We’re incredibly proud of what this series has become, and grateful to Apple TV and Sony Pictures Television for helping us see it through to its final chapter.”

While season six will conclude For All Mankind, the universe will continue in a new prequel, Star City. The spin-off follows the Soviet perspective during the global space race, namely the engineers, cosmonauts, and intelligence officers working to be the first to land on the Moon. Star City will debut on May 29.

For All Mankind is known for its high-stakes and thrilling drama that keeps fans on the edge of their seats. We’ll see how well the sci-fi show succeeds at delivering that when its fifth season premieres on Apple TV on Friday, Mar. 27.
