Ethan Krieger (He/Him) is an editor at DualShockers that got started in the writing industry by covering professional basketball for a sports network. Despite being a diehard sports fan (mainly formula one, basketball, American football, and golf), video games have always been his #1 interest.

If you're big into the world of video game modding, whether that may be as a creator or simply as a user, you're going to hear about GGMods soon if you haven't already. Sure, there are several modding resources out there as it stands, but GGMods is aiming to do something different and more creator-friendly when it officially launches on April 13th of this year.

Modding Platform GGMods Rewards Modders For Their Creations

GGMods is community-driven, meaning that it's a place where full modder agency and empowerment will be on full display. One way this is already being seen is with the reveal of the upcoming Modathon that will be hosted on GGMods when the site goes fully live and run from April 13 through May 11.

If you become a part of the GGMods community, you'll immediately be able to spot the benefits, which include a creator rewards program, founding modders program, community-driven development, as well as periodic events, like this forthcoming and exciting Spring 2026 Modathon.

With the first Modathon quickly approaching, let's take a look at which games might be featured in this month-long adventure, as well as some more information surrounding the event.

GGMods Modathon

While the first swath of games to feature in GGMods' first Modathon are yet to be determined, we can begin to take some educated guesses based on the games that are already trending on the site. Out of the 3,000+ mods across 40 games currently available on the site, the top ten most popular titles as it stands are:

  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • The Sims 4
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (and the original Skyrim)
  • Fallout 4
  • Stardew Valley
  • Starfield
  • Fallout 3
  • Baldur's Gate 3
  • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
  • Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

Clearly, if you're big into the Bethesda game modding scene, this should be exciting for you as over half of these top games are from the legendary publisher. Still, don't lose hope if you're looking for games in other genres as well.

Here are several other titles of note that fall outside of the massive RPG-style game that's mostly represented above:

  • Subnautica
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong
  • Schedule I
  • Cronos: The New Dawn

Ultimately, the games featured in the Modathon will be decided by which five simply have the most user submissions by Sunday, April 12th. That means that if you want to push for one of your favorite games to be part of the fun, you best get to submitting mods ASAP!

Different Themes Each Week will Give Everyone a Chance

Whichever games end up being featured in GGMod's Spring 2026 Modathon, things will stay fresh with different weekly themes for the contest over the course of four consecutive weeks. This means that even if the first contest theme that begins on April 13 isn't your personal jam, you very well could see Weeks 2, 3 and/or 4 focus on games/topics that are more in your wheelhouse.

These themes have yet to be revealed, but we can expect to learn more at least about the first theme soon as April 13 draws ever closer. Your best bet in the meantime is to keep those modding skills sharp, and perhaps start looking into ideas you can execute in any of the trending games at the top of the site.

Modathon Contest will Feature Nice Prizes

Now, let's get to the really good stuff. GGMods' Modathon isn't just an exercise in flexing your personal modding muscles. There are also real, substantial prizes that will be given out to the creators that showcase the most impressive work. Here's what's up for grabs:

  • A cash prize pool of $7,000
  • Game giveaways totaling $1,000
  • Game bundles, Steam gift cards, and Discord Nitro subs for regular GGMods users

Per an announcement from GGMods themselves, here's the more detailed breakdown of how all of the contest prizes will work:

The following prizes will be awarded to each of our five eligible games. This will be specifically updated once we reach launch and have the highest mod-count mods on GGMods.

Weekly Prizes:

$100 USD will be awarded per game every week, to the most thematic mod every week, following its weekly prompt. As decided by our Judges Panel.

$50 Steam gift card will be awarded per game, every week to the most downloaded mod that week.

Grand Prize:

$1000 USD will be awarded to the most downloaded mod submitted in each game during the 2026 Spring Madness Modathon.

How to Enter

GGMods Modathon

If you're interested in being part of the fun, it's thankfully extremely simple to join in on the Spring 2026 Modathon action.

During the event period (April 13 through May 11, each week separated into a different theme), users can upload new mods to GGMods in order for them to be considered for the Modathon. On May 15, the winners and prize recipients will be announced.

Here's the breakdown of what you need to do, taken word for word from the GGMods Press Release for total clarity:

- Users create an account on GGMods

- Submit a new (previously unpublished) mod whether original or inspired by our weekly themes

- Tag it "Spring Madness 2026 Modathon"

Once again, GGMods is also encouraging creators to create your user account on the site now, and also consider uploading/submitting mods you aren't planning on entering into the Modathon in order to help your favorite games qualify for the contest by the April 12 selection deadline.

Multiple submissions are allowed, but users should note that you can only win one prize. Still, multiple submissions will help your odds of accomplishing this. Collaborative submissions are allowed as well if multiple users would like to team up with one another, though equal distribution of the funds will be the responsibility of the main user listed on the mods credit page.
