Grand Theft Auto 6 is rumored to be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 in the future, but like the PC port, fans shouldn't expect to play it anytime soon.

As of the time of writing, Take-Two Interactive has only confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in November 2026. While a PC port is inevitable, there has been no release window given, with most expecting it to launch in 2027, long after the initial hype has died down.

The big question is whether Grand Theft Auto 6 will come to the Nintendo Switch 2, especially considering the system's relatively weak hardware. At least one leaker is going all-in on a port prediction, with Nash Weedle claiming on Twitter/X that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be coming to Nintendo's new system in the future.

According to Nash Weedle, multiple sources have confirmed that the Grand Theft Auto 6 port for Nintendo Switch 2 is happening. This new version of the game is being handled by subcontractors that are specialists with the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, ensuring that it will run on the hardware.

However, the mythical Nintendo Switch 2 port of Grand Theft Auto 6 won't launch this year. Considering that the PC port is going to be the bigger priority, considering the vast reach of the platform, it's likely that Nintendo fans won't be causing chaos in Vice City for a while yet, likely not until the end of next year.

The big question is whether Grand Theft Auto 6 will come to the Nintendo Switch 2, especially considering the system's relatively weak hardware.

As of the time of writing, Rockstar has only shown two Grand Theft Auto 6 trailers, neither of which had any gameplay footage. As such, it's hard to gauge exactly what the game will look like in motion, as Rockstar could have been obfuscating Grand Theft Auto 6's graphical quality and performance behind carefully curated screenshots.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is a step up from its predecessor, but it has yet to be truly put to the test when it comes to games that exclusively run on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hardware. This is a system that Rockstar never bothered to put Grand Theft Auto 5 on, despite it appearing on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

However, Rockstar is releasing Grand Theft Auto 6 on the Xbox Series S, which is a system that's comparable to the Nintendo Switch 2 in power. The inevitable PC port will also have to accommodate a wide range of hardware, meaning that Grand Theft Auto 6 could run on the system, even if it means compromising the frame rate and draw distance.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has got off to an amazing start in terms of sales, but it's not quite the powerhouse that its predecessor was, especially with the slow release of killer apps and the upcoming price increase. That could be another reason why Rockstar/Take-Two are in no rush to release a port, as they might want to see the system's player base increase, especially if they want as many people to pay that $80 launch price as possible.
