Ethan Krieger (He/Him) is an editor at DualShockers that got started in the writing industry by covering professional basketball for a sports network. Despite being a diehard sports fan (mainly formula one, basketball, American football, and golf), video games have always been his #1 interest.

As you could likely assume, based on the history of the franchise, Super Meat Boy 3D has plenty of challenges waiting for those gamers ready to give the game their best shot. One way things are different this time is the inclusion of boss fights, which serve as endcaps at the finale of each of the five worlds in the game.

If you're here, you've probably already beaten Sawhalanthropus in World One - The Forest. Congrats! Unfortunately for you, however, World 2 - The Wastes is about to kick things up another notch or two, which includes the final showdown with Mr. Filthy, a creepy brain attached to a giant body of green ooze. It's... not super pleasant.

If you've gotten to this weirdo in Super Meat Boy 3D and need some help learning his moveset in order to outlive this beast, you've come to the right place.

Mr. Filthy Video Guide

Video guides are probably the best way to learn fights in Super Meat Boy 3D, mostly because these encounters really come down to routing. Unlike the boss of World One, Mr. Filthy stays in one location, meaning you don't have to contend with an auto-scrolling platforming chase scene like you had with Sawhalanthropus. Whether this is good news or bad news will be up to you.

Survive long enough for Mr. Filthy to hit himself in the head three times with giant trash balls, and you'll be on your way to World 3 - The Forge.

How to Beat Mr. Filthy

Let's break things down a bit further here for you. There are four platforms surrounding Mr. Filthy in this boss arena. The name of the game is carefully hopping between them in order to dodge all his attacks long enough to win.

A regular jump can cross these gaps, but a sprint jump will give you a lot more distance to play with.

First, you just need to hop between platforms to dodge the giant green tentacles that pop out of the pipes. You'll notice arrows on the ground when they're about to strike, so get to a safe platform when this appears where you are.

Keep in mind as well that each pipe has a sort of force field that will kill you if you touch it, so don't get too close here either.

Next, you'll have to dodge a series of three successive incoming projectiles, marked by targets on the floor where they'll land.

Your best bet is to start on the second/top-left platform, as it has two gaps in the missiles you can alternate between. For the third barrage of projectiles, you'll want to hop over to the third/top-right platform and stand in the very back. After this, Mr. Filthy will be hit by his first giant trash ball, dealing damage.

Next are more tentacles to dodge, and it's the exact same thing as before.

After that, two sets of three sawblades will spawn opposite of each other, then begin rotating around the arena counter-clockwise as more projectiles fall.

All you need to do is stay on the third platform, jump over the blades, and then also side jump before the projectiles to dodge before impact. You can actually stay on the third platform for all of this, with the video above being the best bet to show you have this is done.

After this, Mr. Filthy will take his second dose of damage.

Finally, a giant trash cube will spawn in the arena and start rotating counter-clockwise, but towards the center of the screen. Just stay to the outside to dodge it, and you'll be fine.

After a very short while, Mr. Filthy will be hit for a third time, and you live to see another day.
