Esoteric Ebb has a fantastic world to explore, and on those explorations, you'll find all kinds of wacky things. One of the wackiest is Meek, an ancient mimic who can join your journey. Meek is fairly well hidden, especially if you aren't running an intelligence build Cleric.
This CRPG has a lot of secrets to uncover, but one of the best is Meek. Not only are they a super fun little companion-type character, but they also offer some help during certain instances. If you've been struggling with some of the combat, grabbing Meek could help you out some.
Finding Meek can be a bit of a hassle, but this guide will cover where to find them and how to recruit them. Soon you'll have a Meek of your very own that offers you all kinds of silly advice. They're a very classic DnD tag along companion.

How to Find Meek
Actually, finding Meek is going to take a bit of work, so don't expect to find them right away. First things first, you'll need to make it into the City Below, which shouldn't be too hard once you've gone and talked to a few people to get your quests sorted.
After you gain access to the City Below, you can head into the room with the Pillar of Jor and then make your way south into the Roots. Here is where you'll start your questing adventure to find this miniature mimic.
Finding the Passcode
Just south of Moongrove, the bugbear standing in the Roots, you'll see some statues which aren't statues, but rather people petrified by Basilik Venom. A couple of the statues are interactable, but for this one specifically, you'll want to interact with the wizard statue.
If the statue isn't interactable, or you can't get the book, try raising your overall Intelligence with items until it's at least 12.
Once you can interact with the statue, you can progress through the conversation until you manage to get the passcode. This won't reveal any information on where the door might be, so you'll need to do some searching before you can find it.
There's another way to open the door if you've built into strength and don't feel like dealing with intelligence at all.
Finding and Opening the Door
Finding the actual door will be a little tough, since there are only two ways to get to it. One entrance is through the Beware Monsters tunnel in the Roots, while the other is on the north side of the City Below. Both ways have their pros and cons, but they both lead to the sewers area, which is where you'll need to be.
If you go through the northern entrance in the City Below, you should find a hallway with scorch marks and some skeletons. This hallway is booby-trapped and can potentially kill you, so saving beforehand is recommended. Once you're through that way, just head down the left hallway, and you should end up at the sewer entrance.
The southern tunnel in the Roots will have some main story quest significance, so you'll probably want to go this way at some point anyway. Follow the tunnel until you get to a fork in the path, where you'll face off against a Roper and probably bite it a few times. Defeat them and head down the right tunnel to reach the sewers.
From the sewer entrance, follow the tunnel south, and you'll come across a door called the Door of Mystery. Now this is where things will get interesting. You can choose to use the passcode to enter or break the door down. Using the passcode is probably the safer idea unless you really want to break down the door with your muscles.

Making Meek Your Friend
Once you're inside the secret room, you can start looting some things, or you can just check out the sign that reads Not a Mimic. You might imagine this is in relation to the chest below it, but actually, the sign itself is the mimic.
From here, you can chat a bit about it, which may lower the DC of the Int roll, or you can just roll the dice to see what's weird about the sign. Whatever you do, you shouldn't touch the sign and instead opt for throwing a pebble at it. Meek will wake up, and you'll begin having a conversation with a chatty mimic.
Bring some Shards of Jor just in case, so you can easily reroll the Int check to make sure you get it; otherwise, just come back after a short rest.
You should ask Meek pretty much every question you can to lower the Charisma check and make it easier to succeed. It isn't super hard to begin with, but leaving things up to the dice gods is rarely a good idea. You are able to lower it to a DC of four before doing the check.
If you succeed with your check, you can add Meek to your party as a familiar, and they go into your inventory for you to equip whenever you like. You'll only get their bonuses or their conversation if they're equipped on your person.
Rewards
Meek isn't the only reward available here. If you manage to get into the secret chamber and do some looting, you can get all of the following items, including Meek:
- Mimic Cloak — Helps with certain ability checks in and out of combat.
- Dancing Lights — Cantrip to provide a floating light.
- Knock — A powerful spell to open any locked door.
- Crowns x90
- Potion of Healing
- Incense
At minimum, you'll want to grab Knock from the little alcove that Meek was just covering to get yourself into the locked Tea Shop, or anything else you might need for that matter. There are plenty of other secrets in this indie CRPG, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled.
