Finding copper in Hytale is all about location; it may seem a scarce resource at first, but once you know where to look, you'll never suffer from a copper shortage again. With a large stack of copper ore in your pocket, soon to be turned into copper ingots, you can craft copper tools and armor.

How to find copper ore in Hytale

In Hytale, copper ore is found in caves. When you see a shiny, brown, rectangular growth on a cobblestone block, equip your pickaxe (a crude pickaxe will do) and hack away; before long, the stone will break, and you can pick up the copper ore.

While exploring cave systems in the dark, nearby copper ore gives off a faint shimmer, so be on the lookout for that. Be sure to check the cave's ceiling, too, as there's usually some copper there. You may even find some copper just outside the cave, but it's quite rare.

If you're having trouble finding caves in Hytale, it's helpful to open your map and look for cave-like structures. Anything that looks like a small chasm has a good chance of being a cave entrance. On this map, for example, the following areas all turned out to be cave entrances leading to copper:

Alternatively, you can also find a mineshaft that will lead you directly into a cave system. Mineshafts can come in all shapes and sizes, and they'll vary depending on what environment you're in. However, an easy way to spot one on the map is to look for a building directly next to a hole. Additionally, they'll always have minecarts and railroads around the building.

How to get copper ingots in Hytale

Got some copper ore? The next step is to build a workbench, go to the "tools" tab, and craft a furnace. This requires six pieces of wood and six stones.

Once you've placed the furnace, put some wood in the fuel slot and some copper ore in the input slot. Wait for the smelting to finish, and you'll find a copper ingot in the output slot (as well as some bonus charcoal).
