How to get the Frozen Anguish in Crimson Desert

1 hour ago 1

The Frozen Anguish is an impressive two-handed weapon in Crimson Desert, and it's a significant upgrade to your arsenal in the midgame. As you progress and explore new regions, the number of enemies you have to face at the same time increases, and heavy weapons like the Frozen Anguish or the Soul Spear will come in handy due to their ability to cleave and hit multiple foes.

However, getting the Frozen Anguish can be a dangerous endeavor if you're undergeared. Here's how to get the Frozen Anguish in Crimson Desert.

How to get the Frozen Anguish in Crimson Desert

The Frozen Anguish is located in frigid lands on the northern side of Demeniss, inside the dangerous Spire of Frost, a majestic frozen tower in the Eyes of Ice area. Head northeast of Anvil Hill in Hernand and follow the road upward to get here. As you approach, you'll see a large tower covered in ice behind some mountains. Before you head out, make sure to prepare for the dangerous environment and enemies nearby.

Accessing the Spire of Frost involves exposing yourself to the cold environment of northern Demeniss. Being exposed to the cold will lower your stamina and slowly reduce your health, so it's important to either have gear with ice resistance or take some food that protects you from the cold. If you have none, consider buying a beer at the inn in Hernand, which gives ice resistance level 2 for 30 seconds.

The weather is not the only problem in the area. The region around the Spire of Frost is guarded by groups of ice mages. They have magical shields and hover around you, making it difficult to fight them. While you don't have to kill them to obtain the Frozen Anguish, clearing the area allows you to focus on opening the Spire of Frost's door.

If you don't want to fight them, the best strategy is to go around the Spire of Frost by heading northeast and reach the Icewatch Altar. From there, glide southwest to find the abyss nexus in front of the Spire of Frost entrance. By having this fast-travel station unlocked, you can push through the area without worrying about dying and having to walk all the way back to the Spire of Frost. You just need to avoid being seen by the patrolling mage when coming from the teleport to safely make it to the entrance.

Once in front of the Spire of Frost, climb the stairs to find the locked door. Be careful, because chunks of ice fall at your location from time to time. To open the door, you must light the stone lantern on the left side of the entrance. However, before you can do that, you must break the surrounding ice. You can either attack it with a heavy weapon or bait one of the falling chunks of ice to land on it. Once the ice has been removed, interact with the lantern to light it.

After unlocking the door, go to the left side of the ice pillar and look under the stairs. Your lantern will reflect light on the ice inside, making it a bit hard to see, but try to get under the stairs to find a chest. Open it to obtain the Frozen Anguish sword and a refined palmar pill.
