Murillo Zerbinatto is a contributor from Brazil. He's a JRPG enthusiast who has been around the world of games and content creation for more than six years now. He has a particular love for Final Fantasy and has absorbed all the content this long-running series offers, including its obscure spinoffs such as Dimension I & II, Explorers, and My Life as a King. While playing JRPGs is already a time-sinking endeavor, Murillo doubles down by being a platinum hunter as well.
One of the ways PC gaming has been winning players over other platforms is through the presence of mods. Mods can extend the lifetime of a single-player game to hundreds or even thousands of hours, introducing new gameplay systems and features limited only by the modder's creativity.
Not only that, but some of the most famous games today were born from the minds of resourceful modders, such as Dota and Counter-Strike. Modding has shown that this practice is about more than just tinkering with a base product. It proves that, for those willing to roll up their sleeves, the right hands can uncover far more gameplay depth than meets the eye.

Professional Modding Platform GGMods Offers Development Grants and Salaried Contracts
GGMods launches January 7, 2026 and will support major titles including Skyrim, Baldur's Gate 3, and Fallout 4 on day one.
To further improve and expand this ecosystem, 2026 saw the launch of a new modding site, GGMods. While at first glance it may seem like just another platform, GGMods has a few tricks up its sleeve that promise to shake up the modding community, both for players, and more specifically, modders, who will find plenty of benefits in bringing their mods to GGMods.
Why Modders Should Choose GGMods
Transparent Pay and Fixed-Value Earnings Guaranteed
On staple modding sites, the only way modders can ensure their efforts and creativity are rewarded is through donations, which all things considered, is fair compensation. Players are the main beneficiaries of mods, and some of these projects can extend the playtime of their favorite titles without paying a dime, unless they choose to.
GGMods wants every creator involved to get a slice of the pie, though. To make that happen, the platform has introduced a fixed-value model that ensures earnings won't decline as the site grows over time. Every single download guarantees a steady, long-term financial return. This ensures continued growth based on how many users download a given creator's mod, with popularity translating into greater compensation.
Creators earn GGMods points that they can cash out in money. They earn points whenever their mods receive downloads, are updated, or interact with the community. In short, if a creator stays engaged with their mods and with the community around it, they've got everything to gain. There are, of course, some criteria each creator must meet, such as being over 18, having a good account standing, and registering for the reward system. But once that's done, it's all systems go for modding and earning.

Helping Creators Finish Their Projects
We're All in This Together
One of the ways GGMods helps creators with their projects is through Completion Grants, along with some exclusive partnerships that provide upfront compensation and ongoing promotion for their mods. If your mod shows promise, GGMods will recognize that and help you cross the finish line, making it available to a wider audience.
Depending on how groundbreaking your creation is, you won't just earn benefits during development, but also after it goes worldwide and downloads start rolling in. Hard work should pay off somehow, not only at the finish line, but throughout the entire production process, and that's exactly what GGMods is all about.
One of the pillars of GGMods is transparency, so any change will be analyzed on a case-by-case basis and will always be communicated to the modder before any actual adjustments are set in stone. Furthermore, the platform is always open to community feedback to try to create an ecosystem that is a win-win for both modders and players.
Modders Unite
None of this works without the real rockstars: the modders. To incentivize creators to join GGMods, the platform has been promoting and organizing events on its official Discord server. The idea is to bring together top creators in the modding scene, gather their feedback, and help the platform grow. That way, everyone wins, both the creator community and the players. Also worth mentioning, mods will be free to download.
GGMods will officially launch on April 13. Creators who join the platform before that date can apply to the Founding Modders program to receive cash in advance if they bring their mods to GGMods. Founding Modders will also receive additional benefits, such as early access to new features, direct input on new tools and updates, and the opportunity to help shape the platform's development. It's important to mention that all mods stay yours, with no exclusivity required.
There's also a referral program for Founding Modders. If you know an incredible modder and want to point them our way, both of you will earn a bonus. The person referred receives everything mentioned above, while the referrer earns a bonus based on the number of unique downloads of the referred author's mods. The bonus starts at $100 for 1–5 million unique downloads of a mod and can reach $500 if the downloads top 20 million.
Last but not least, top creators will be featured in interviews on sites like GameRant and Polygon, giving them a platform to share their inspiration, how they became modders, highlight their work, and potentially inspire future generations of creators. Anyone interested in learning or creating mods should check out the site as soon as possible, join GGMods' official Discord, and start modding their favorite games.
If the invite link appears unavailable, go directly to Discord, select "Add Server" at the bottom of your server list, and paste the invite link there.
