Mythic Love: Iberian Legends PC (Final)

Think you can handle a little romance with creatures from Spanish folklore? ❤️‍🔥 Careful: your love life isn’t the only thing at stake at Mythic Love: Iberian Legends. Flirt with Iberian folklore creatures, save (or doom) humanity, and, if you earn their trust, unlock their true monstrous form! Meet five romanceable myths, each with their own drama, secrets, and a tendency to snack on humans from time to time ;). Your choices decide whether you end up in love, betrayed, or just… obliterated. The romanceable characters follow specific and expected archetypes: shy, flirty, abrasive, insecure, dangerous. You’ll likely gravitate toward a LI immediately, and you won’t be disappointed.

Their stories are quite lengthy if you make it all the way to their “good ending,” but there are lots of compelling choices to get you other endings along the way. The sprites are also ridiculously cute…and there’s plenty of save slots. Bless. The side characters and BGs enrich the world substantially. You get to meet and chat with other characters to help you understand the conflicts and LIs better, and even affect their lives if you so choose. That degree of interaction is something that is often missing in VNs since many of them have tunnel vision on the romance alone, so the team deserves a huge shoutout for the worldbuilding. It’s really sweet and immersive.

As for performance issues, while playing Bu’s route through to the final (what seemed to be) good ending, no game-breaking bugs were encountered and the experience was smooth. There were translation errors; the pronouns for the characters and the player were frequently incorrect and/or inconsistent toward the end of the route, and there were a few times that words were missing, making the text hard to understand. But none of it negatively affected the experience, and it will likely be patched in time. Mythic Love: Iberian Legends is a super cute game so far and such a fun way to be introduced to Iberian mythology. Love the emphasis on Basque culture too!

Had fun winning over Juana’s heart this first go-around and looking forward to the others. It’s just released and in two languages, so it’s a little buggy, but nothing that impeded playing, understanding, or enjoyment. The only thing that could improve this is a glossary of the Basque words used in Mythic Love: Iberian Legends and links or descriptions of the myths, legends, and food referenced. Frequent switching to Google was needed to look these up!
