In a new, exclusive interview with New Game+ Showcase's Luality, The Blood of Dawnwalker Creative Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz shed some light on multiple features for the upcoming third-person dark fantasy RPG.

According to Tomaszkiewicz, Vale Sangora was once ruled by the tyrannical Lord Scander, who would wipe out whole villages to prevent the spread of the plague until the Roman vampire Brencis and his cadres of vampires eliminated him and took over the valley.

Brencis and his vampires quickly assume control over the valley by using their blood to cure people of the plague, which causes most of Vale Sangora's citizens to begin worshiping the vampires and Brencis specifically as religious figures and saviors.

This puts Brencis in a greater shade of gray compared to other video game villains who are overtly evil, but this position of power and influence will impact Coen's journey in Dawnwalker in multiple ways, both in gameplay and story.

New Blood of Dawnwalker Gameplay Details

Tomaszkiewicz divulged that Dawnwalkers, beings who are half human and half vampires, are exceptionally rare and are quite different from traditional vampires, as their powers only become usable at night, but during the day, Dawnwalkers can use magic to aid them.

Dawnwalkers additionally age a lot slower than normal humans, and Tomaszkiewicz suggested that players could see the impact of this in potential Blood of Dawnwalker sequels, specifically with regard to Coen's sister Lunka, who was cured of the plague by Brencis in The Blood of Dawnwalker's first trailer.

As gamers play through Dawnwalker, they can have Coen form relationships with NPCs, while Brencis and his underlings will actively respond to player actions.

During the day, Dawnwalkers can use magic to aid them.

For example, if players continuously undermine his operations in villages and cities, Brencis can send out more soldiers to patrol roads or put cities in lockdown to hamper player traversal, but this increased notoriety can increase Coen's reputation with certain factions who are rebelling against the vampires.

However, if players lose control of Coen's bloodlust and kill NPCs, they may become locked out of certain quests or be forced to play through different versions of quests compared to a more restrained Coen.

This will result in multiple endings for not just Vale Sangora overall but also impact the endings for specific characters, giving Dawnwalker high replay value and ensuring that everybody's playthrough of the game is a bit distinct from one another.

Some of these endings and choices may even branch off into potential sequels similar to how relationships and choices carried over between the Mass Effect games, but Tomaszkiewicz noted that the feature is only a goal for Rebel Wolves currently, not a concrete feature.
