Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has hinted that a Game Pass price reduction is on the cards, potentially tied to another subscription service. The lower price could also affect future systems, like Project Helix, which is still in development.

Xbox Game Pass was once seen as the best deal in gaming, offering fans instant access to all the first-party exclusives, along with a glut of amazing third-party and indie titles. Unfortunately, the good times don't last, as Microsoft increased the price of Game Pass in 2025, alienating a good chunk of its supporters.

Now that Xbox has a new CEO, the time may have come to right the Game Pass ship. In an interview with The Information (via IGN), Asha Sharma has hinted that new Game Pass tiers are on the cards, with lower price points.

Xbox CEO Might Lower Game Pass Prices

One Of 2025's Biggest Sleeper Hits Is Coming To Xbox Game Pass Premium

According to Sharma, the intention is to "make future consoles and products like Game Pass more enticing to a broader range of customers" and "revamping pricing models to offer lower-priced tiers." It bears mentioning that there has been no official announcement regarding Game Pass price reductions.

Sharma also mentioned meeting with Netflix CEO Greg Peters, during which they discussed possible subscription bundles for both Netflix and Game Pass.

The issue with any subscription service is the increased focus on digital ownership, which is finite. It's in Microsoft's best interests to get people signed up to subscription services for regular income to keep access to their games, though that raises the question of why Game Pass prices were raised in the first place.

Sharma also mentioned meeting with Netflix CEO Greg Peters, during which they discussed possible subscription bundles for both Netflix and Game Pass.

Lowering Game Pass prices or introducing cheaper ad tiers would be a step in the right direction for Microsoft, especially as so many decisions over the past year have felt like they're in aid of sunsetting the Xbox brand.

Whether Sharma makes good on the hints of the lower Game Pass prices remains to be seen. They haven't been the CEO of Xbox for long, and much of their vision for the brand hasn't had time to take shape.
