Early on in your adventures in Palworld, you’ll quickly realise that Work Suitability is almost as important as the general power levels of your Pals. Just because they know how to dish out some crazy damage doesn’t mean they’re going to be good workers!

Kindling is one of the many work attributes available to your Pals, and is generally only held by those with an affinity for fire. Placing a Pal with a Kindling value inside a base will allow it to start working on an available furnace or begin cooking a selection of tasty meals!

Naturally, the higher the Kindling value, the quicker the Pal will complete the task set. As of update 1.0, these values can range from 1-10. Let’s take a look at some of the best Kindling Pals at each stage of the game and how to make the most of them!

Early-Game Kindling Pals

Palworld Tanzee

So, at this point, you’ve probably just made your first base and are wondering how everything works. Well, one of the most important things early on is mining ore and smelting it into ingots, so you can use them to craft various helpful items.

For this, you’re going to need at least a couple of Kindling Pals to tackle the furnace duties. Right from the get-go, you’ll have access to a few decent Kindling Pals, close to the starting location.

  • Foxparks can be found all over the place as soon as you leave the starting zone. All the grassy areas surrounding the first Syndicate Tower have Foxparks available!
  • From here, you can move up to the red area on the world map, north-west of the tower. This area contains both Tanzee Ignis and Rooby, which both have a Kindling level of 1.
  • Incineram is also a great early-game choice, though it might be a bit trickier to catch. You can find these very early in the game's progression in the Yellow Biome of the Windswept Hills, controlled by some thugs.

You don’t really need a high Kindling level at this point, because the tasks you’re giving your Pals are going to be pretty simple. As soon as you see new tasks taking way too long to complete, you know it’s time to look for some new pals with better Kindling levels.

Mid-Game Kindling Pals

Katress Ignis

Palworld Katress

One of the first things you’ll want to do at this point is grab yourself a Katress Ignis. While this Pal is inside a base, it will grant +1 to every other Pal's level of Kindling. Honestly, this is literally just a free boost to every Pal’s Kindling without having to use something like a Kindling Handbook.

There are a couple of ways to get yourself a Katress Ignis. Firstly, you can head over to a Dungeon on Sakurajima and find a wild Katress Ignis within. These can spawn normally or as a dungeon boss.

Or, you can catch yourself a normal Katress and then breed it with a Wixen to get yourself a Katress Ignis, if you feel like you’re not up for Sakurajima yet. Katress Ignis is a good pal to use a few Kindling Handbooks on, as you’ll probably have this Pal in your Base for a good long time.

Condensing a Pal can also raise its work levels. You can do this by condensing multiple Pals into 1, or by raising their levels with Starfruits.

Helpful Mid-Level Pals

Palworld Blazamut

So, at this point, you’ve probably taken down a decent number of towers and are working your way up through the metal tiers, from Refined Metal into Plasteel and Pal Metal.

Remember to complete the Kindling research at the Pal Research Station to speed up your Kindling tasks!

You’re going to need Pals with a far higher Kindling level in order to get these tasks done in a decent amount of time. In addition, you’ll probably also want Pals that have multiple types of work abilities, so they can help out with multiple jobs around the base.

  • If you’ve explored the Volcanic Island, you might have found the Alpha Blazamut spawn in the northwest. This Pal is great if your base has a spot for mining and furnaces working at the same time.
  • If you’re struggling to take on the Blazamut, Moldron or Reptyro can be good substitutes with very similar work stats!
  • Nearby, in the 2nd Wildlife Sanctuary, you can fish to find Ghangler Ignis, which has great Kindling and Watering!
  • On the other side of the map, in the desert, you can find an Alpha Suzaku, which works as a great Kindler, as well as a useful flying mount.

Late-Game Kindling Pals

  • Palworld Renjishi

  • Palworld Furnace

So, at this point, you’ve probably gotten to Sunreach, or you might even be exploring the World Tree. Eventually, you’ll be able to craft the Ancient Furnace, which requires a minimum of 6 Kindling to smelt Paloxite Ingots.

However, if you just have Pals with level 6 Kindling, this is going to take ages. In addition, you’ll also need Pals with at least 6 Cooling too, to cool the bars down as they are smelted. So we’ll need some Pals that can seriously raise the bar:

  • First off, you’re going to want to grab yourself a Renjishi, which has the highest base Kindling level of any Pal in the game. It can be found in the north-east biome of the World Tree.
  • However, if you haven’t gotten to the World Tree yet, you can’t go wrong with Flaracle, which can be found on the southeast island of Sunreach. This Pal has 7 Kindling and 6 Handiwork, which is great for item creation!
  • You might want to grab yourself a Whalaska Ignis, which, when boosted with Katress Ignis, gets 6 Kindling, as well as 6 Cooling, which works great for the furnace!
  • If you haven’t gotten to the World Tree, or even Sunreach yet, definitely try to find a Jormuntide Ignis, found on the eastern edge of Feybreak Island. With a massive 7 Kindling, this is a great early upgrade.

Once you’ve got a good selection of Pals, there are a few things you can do to improve their Kindling powers.

Firstly, you can breed them via certain passive skills that improve their working abilities, like Demon’s Hand, Artisan or even Serious. You should then improve their Work Speed via a Statue of Anubis, using Pal Souls. Finally, you can condense and then raise their final few levels with Applied Kindling Handbooks.

At this point, you’ll have a ridiculously strong team of pals that will complete all of your Kindling needs in no time!
