Persona5: The Phantom X Expansion Adds New Location and Phantom THief

It seems that it is time to head back to class and prep for new heists, as SEGA has just launched the latest story update for Persona 5: The Phantom X, the latest spin-off of the iconic Persona 5 that blends gacha mechanics with an original cast of characters – and the new content drop proves there is much more to explore in this universe.

The Ver. 3.0 update brings a massive amount of content to the table, including brand-new locations in the real world, time-limited events, unique rewards, themed gifts, and even a fresh Phantom Thief for players to unlock. It is a significant expansion for the game, so let’s break down exactly what you can expect from this latest patch.

The Path to Unconditional Love and Exclusive Rewards

For starters, the Ver. 3.0 update unveils the long-awaited Main Story Chapter 3: Unconditional Love Phase 3, which continues the game's core narrative.

Following the intense battle against Katayama’s Shadow, the Palace became powerless and was sealed off. So players will now see the gang taking action in the real world to find a way to reopen the Palace and continue their confrontation with the remaining Palace ruler.

To celebrate the launch of this new chapter, the game is hosting a special release event. Players can earn Meta Jewels and Joy Medals by achieving set goals, alongside exclusive items such as a Plum Blossom Dango. This event is time-limited and is scheduled to end on February 5th at 1:59 AM (UTC).

Meet the New Phantom Thief: Frostgale Kotone

The Ver. 3.0 update also introduces a formidable, fresh Phantom Thief to the roster: Frostgale Kotone. Operating under the code name Mont, she is a powerful 5-star character, making her one of the rarest and most potent units currently in the game. Her exclusive weapon, the Silent Pistols, will also be available through Arms Deals.

In terms of gameplay, Frostgale Kotone acts as a versatile assassin who can freely alternate between Wind and Ice attributes, which dynamically changes her skill set. In her Ice form, she excels at debuffing enemies and granting shields to allies while preparing her most powerful strikes. But in her Wind form, she focuses on buffing the party and dealing devastating multi-hit attacks.

Another strategic layer to her kit is that her damage output increases based on how many allies in your party share her same attribute! I know that Joker is proud of this one.

Frostgale Kotone will be featured in the Most Wanted Phantom Idol Contracts until February 5th at 1:59 AM (UTC). During this period, her appearance rate (and that of several other Phantom Thieves, by the way) will be increased, giving players a better shot at unlocking her. So good luck!
