Pokémon Champions is adding new Abilities for Pokémon that have yet to appear in the mainline games, including Mega Dragonite, which is receiving a ridiculously OP power, one that will hopefully make people use it.

Pokémon Champions is an upcoming battle simulator for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. It uses the turn-based combat rules from the mainline Pokémon games, and will feature cross-generational battle mechanics, meaning Mega Evolutions can take on Tera-type Pokémon for the first time.

A new Famitsu article has revealed some of the new Abilities that will be added to Pokémon Champions, most notably for the Mega Evolutions that debuted in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, but haven't appeared in the mainline titles. One of these is Mega Dragonite, which is certain to become a competitive favorite in the future.

Mega Dragonite Has An Amazing Ability In Pokémon Champions

Pokémon Champions Every Nintendo Game 2026

Mega Dragonite gains the Multiscale Ability, reducing the damage of an attack by half, so long as it's at full HP. This gives Mega Dragonite the ability to survive normally lethal Fairy, Dragon, and Ice-type attacks, boosting its survivability on the battlefield.

Mega Dragonite isn't the only new form to gain an Ability, as Mega Froslass now has Storm Warning, which summons hail for the first five turns in battle, automatically boosting the strength of Ice-type attacks, and allows Blizzard to avoid the accuracy check when used against foes.

Hopefully, Multiscale will make Mega Dragonite more appealing to fans, since it has one of the worst designs among new Mega Evolutions. Mega Dragonite just has a longer tail and wings on its head, like it robbed that one power-up from Super Mario 64, making it way too similar to its base form.

Dragonite is one of the most popular Pokémon in the franchise, especially in competitive, which means the Multiscale Ability is only going to make it even more of a fixture on the battlefield in Pokémon Champions.
