If you are trying to upgrade some of your weapons and armor, you might have noticed that some upgrades require you to find Stag Skulls. This resource isn't the most difficult to track down, but it might take you a while to get your hands on.
Let's break down everything you need to know about collecting Stag Skulls in No Rest for the Wicked, so you can upgrade your gear.
Collect Stag Skulls in the Wild
Stag Skulls are obtained by killing wild stags found across the map. These creatures don't have set spawn locations, but there are some areas where they are more likely to spawn.
The two regions that you want to search for wild stags are the Orban Glades and the Lowland Meadows, as both areas have plenty of stags that spawn around them. The other locations, like The Shallows, Nameless Pass, and Black Trench, won't spawn these creatures.
The Orban Glades is the region of the map to the north of The Shallows and to the west of Sacrament. You will go through this area on your way to Sacrament in the early game, making it easily accessible during any part of the game.
While searching the Orban Glades, you are more likely to find stags in the wooded areas. Stags also often spawn next to the Forgotten Bridge Whisper or above the Sage Road Whisper.
When it comes to the Lowland Meadows, Stags appear more randomly, though we have seen them appear often near the Lumber Mill Whisper. Keep an eye out for wolves and bears in this area.
Both locations are great for other resources as well. Keep in mind that you can find Research Papers in chests in these areas. Additionally, you can collect Embers from fallen enemies and chests in these areas.

Purchase Stag Skulls
The other way to collect Stag Skulls is by purchasing them from Grinnich. Grinnich runs a shop in the marketplace in Sacrament, which can be upgraded using various resources you collect.
Grinnich has a rotating inventory, and he won't have much to start. Upgrading his shop will expand his inventory and give you access to more resources.
This is not a reliable way to get Stag Skulls, as they don't appear in his inventory very often. It is always good to check, however, because you can get lucky.
Additionally, if you have progressed the story to the point where you have saved Marin Village, you will unlock more vendors. Cyriel and Irmgard are both able to sell resources you may be looking for.
Irmgard is a trader, so you will need to trade resources to obtain resources from her shop. You can, however, use coin to purchase upgrade materials from Cyriel.
Similar to Grinnich, both of these vendors have a rotating inventory, making them fairly unreliable, but you can always check their inventory in case.
