Star Wars' Baby Yoda is coming home in 'the ultimate Grogu experience'

If you've still got Baby Yoda Fever, there's wonderful news: Hasbro is now selling a high-end, hyper-realistic animatronic toy version of Grogu for just $599.99. The 1:1 scale, first-of-its-kind premium animatronic is aimed at Star Wars collectors, fans, and cosplayers, letting you care for, feed, and pet lil' Grogu at home.

Hasbro's Ultimate Grogu packs in four motors, multiple touch sensors, microphones, an accelerometer, and 18 points of motorized articulation into its 14.6-inch-tall frame. The Rolls-Royce of Grogus responds to touch, motion, and sounds with more than 250 animations and sounds. You can literally pinch this guy's cheeks. So yeah, $600 is a small price to pay for this caliber of giggling and cooing, because real babies cost a hell of a lot more, and you can't legally turn them off.

Ultimate Grogu is constructed from premium materials, Hasbro says. It has a soft-skin face, rooted hair, a soft-fabric robe, chainmail, a satchel, and even a Beskar armor chestplate. Other accessories include the cerulean macaron that Grogu pigged out on in The Mandalorian episode 12, "The Siege," an item that shakes when Ultimate Grogu "uses the Force." That space cookie, which I have just learned are called Nevarro Nummies, activates eating and burping sounds when Ultimate Grogu holds it in his wittle hand.

There's also a grav charge accessory that features lights and countdown sound effects which trigger unique Grogu reactions.

"Our goal with Ultimate Grogu was to make fans feel like he’s truly part of their world,” said Adam Biehl, head of Disney Action Brands at Hasbro, in a news release. “Our design and development team spent hours studying how the character came to life in The Mandalorian series, striving to capture his personality and movements in a way that honors what Lucasfilm delivered in entertainment. Powered by our long-standing collaboration with Disney Consumer Products, we’re launching the most life-like, interactive, and expressive Grogu character Hasbro has ever created."

Ultimate Grogu is available for pre-order now through Hasbro Pulse, Amazon, and Fan Channel retailers including Big Bad Toy Store, Entertainment Earth, and GameStop.

While the new collectible is timed to next week's May the Fourth and the imminent release of The Mandalorian & Grogu, in keeping with Grogu's penchant for merchandise tardiness, Ultimate Grogu won't ship widely until early 2027. However, there is a limited run of First Edition quantities of Ultimate Grogu, which feature special edition packaging and a collector card, that will ship in late 2026. The First Edition version is already sold out at Hasbro Pulse. Other retailers appear to still have some in stock.

Grogu will make his big screen debut when The Mandalorian & Grogu arrives in movie theaters on May 22, ending a six-year drought of new Star Wars theatrical releases.

Three seasons of The Mandalorian are currently streaming on Disney Plus, with Grogu and daddy Pedro Pascal also appearing in The Book of Boba Fett.
