One of the last big Xbox Series X/S console exclusives is making the jump to lightspeed, as Bethesda has announced that Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5 on April 7, with special DualSense features and a significant content update.
Starfield was promoted as Bethesda's next big franchise, leaving behind The Elder Scrolls and Fallout for a series that took to the stars in a universe that wasn't quite as bleak. Unfortunately, the critical response was a little more mixed, with players taking issue with the lack of variety, disjointed travel between planets, and the lack of a motivation to actually go out into the universe.

There have been rumors circulating of a PS5 port of Starfield since it first launched on Xbox Series X/S, and that time has now arrived. The official PlayStation Blog has announced that Starfield is coming to PS5 on April 7, 2026, alongside the Free Lanes Update, and the Terran Armada story DLC.
Starfield's PS5 Release Detailed By Sony
Starfield's PS5 port features expansive DualSense support, with the adaptive triggers kicking in whenever the player fires a gun, and the light bar reflecting the player's health. There are also dedicated PS5 Pro settings, with a Visual mode that runs at 4K/30 fps and a Performance mode at 60 fps.
There's also the Free Lanes update, available on platforms. This adds more travel options in space, new interstellar encounters, a special resource that's used for customizing the ship, and new options for the Starborn special abilities that are unlocked throughout the game.

There's also the Terran Armada story DLC, where an army of robots has been unleashed on the galaxy, with the player able to fight back using new gear and a fresh companion. The Terran Armada can be purchased on its own, but is also included in the Premium Edition.
Starfield's PS5 debut has been a long time coming, and it looks like Sony fans are getting a far more fleshed-out experience than the Xbox owners did a few years back. Maybe it's time for Starfield to be reevaluated, much like Cyberpunk 2077 was, and for its true potential to shine through.
