Image Via CapcomCapcom has announced that it will be changing the controversial incest storyline in Street Fighter 6, which was included when Alex was added to the game as a DLC fighter.
Romance isn't exactly a big part of a game where the main goal is to beat the opponent up, but the endings of the Street Fighter story/arcade modes have shown the love lives of the characters outside their punching careers, with fighters like Ken and Dhalsim having wholesome home lives away from the tournaments.

Street Fighter 6 got a new wave of swimsuit costumes, and a couple of them in particular are making a big splash.

Street Fighter 6 Is Changing Alex's Controversial Ending
Image Via CapcomSo, what was the problem with Alex's storyline? His ending in Street Fighter 6 confirms that he's married to Patricia, who has appeared in several previous Street Fighter games. Patricia is Alex's second cousin; they were raised together as siblings, though Alex is a few years older than her. The ending shows a collage of Alex holding Patricia as a baby, and both of them as adults on their wedding day. Patricia is also pregnant with Alex's child.
While technically not illegal, it's still incredibly creepy that Street Fighter 6 would have Alex marrying and impregnating a relative (even a distant one), with whom he grew up, hence why fans are unhappy.

It's unclear exactly how Capcom will change the dialogue in this ending, without some major retcons. Maybe they'll change Alex's hometown to Shelbyville, or his surname to Bluth? He's blond, so maybe an Alex Lannister is on the cards?
Whatever the case, at least Capcom is responding to fan discomfort. The only question now is whether the company can stick the landing, or whether the most recent DLC fighter will forever be mired in a bizarre controversy.
