The Best Co-Op Games On Xbox Game Pass

1 hour ago 1

Whether you're thinking about signing up for Xbox Game Pass, or wondering how to best get your money's worth on an existing subscription, this list should give you ideas of the best co-op games to play on Game Pass. Some of them require a Premium or Ultimate subscription, but you'll find a good few that are included with the Essential tier as well. If you're not so focused on co-op play, be sure to check out our best Xbox Game Pass games to play in 2026 list, too!

We've also got an eye to the future in our upcoming Game Pass titles list and plenty of PC co-op hits if you're more of a desktop gamer.

Astroneer

  • Developer: System Era Softworks
  • Released: 16 December, 2016
  • Game Pass tier: Essential, Premium, Ultimate, PC

Space may be big but it doesn't have to be lonely. Astroneer is a wholesome, minimalist survival sim set across endless procedurally generated planets. It's a little more approachable than most survival titles, in part due to its rounded aesthetic, but also in the intuitive, tactile gameplay that lets you shape whole worlds to your liking.

The terrain tool, which lets you dig, flatten, and reshape the world almost like molding clay, is easy to pick up and wield for quick results. You’ll mine resources to craft equipment, vehicles, power systems, and research modules--all tasks that become easier as part of a co-op team.

Each planet has its own hazards, biomes, and valuable materials, presented in a fully open-ended sandbox where you and your pals can bound through space untethered (although not literally, you'll still need oxygen). Access to breathable air and power management are key early challenges, but the systems are intuitive and gradually expand as you unlock new technologies, so if you're looking for a softer approach to the genre, it's not as hard-hitting as some other similar games--but still rewarding and lots of fun.

Minecraft

  • Developer: Mojang Studios
  • Released: 18 November, 2011
  • Game Pass tier: Premium, Ultimate, PC

Some games are classics for a reason, and for many, Minecraft will be one of the first games they download when getting Game Pass. If you've not yet made the leap, now is the perfect time. It's great for solo play, but the concepts of exploring, adventuring, and having a homestead to return to all mean more when you're working together. Play to your different strengths and designate tasks like animal rearing, building, and combat, or simply club together to take on the hazard and bounties of a procedurally generated world.

If you want a bit more variation than the increasingly complex base game can offer, be sure to check out our list of the best Minecraft mods, as well as our Minecraft guides on everything from building houses to farming slime.

Kill It With Fire 2

  • Developer: Casey Donnellan Games
  • Released: 25 November, 2025
  • Game Pass tier: Premium, Ultimate, PC

You may have had just about enough of peaceful wholesome sim games, in which case, Kill It With Fire 2 is the perfect Game Pass co-op game for you. It's got spiders, guns, and fire. What more could you need?

You play as a licensed “spider exterminator,” tracking skittering arachnids through houses, offices, supermarkets, and even stranger locations. The spiders are surprisingly good at hiding, so to flush them out you’ll need to use everything from shotguns and flamethrowers to exploding gadgets and unwieldy physics-based objects. The only issue arises once you've successfully brought the spiders out into the open, now you'll have to deal with them. Almost everything in the environment can be smashed, burned, or blasted apart, and the collateral damage is half the fun, so you and your friends can get creative with your arachnicide.

Rainbow Six Siege X

  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Released: 1 December, 2015
  • Game Pass tier: Premium, Ultimate

Another classic, this time one with a modern revamp. For those not yet in the know, Siege X is a team-based first-person shooter where one team of attackers tries to complete objectives while the defenders fortify and hold. So far, so simple. The emphasis on strategy, communication, and specialised operators, each with unique gadgets and roles, adds another layer to the gameplay and helps make it such a stand-out game in the genre. We love it so much we gave it a 10/10 in our Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege review.

If you're already familiar with the Tom Clancy games, it's still worth giving Siege X a go. The modernized version includes updated maps, improved lighting and audio, enhanced movement and tactical options, and quality-of-life tweaks meant to welcome new players without sacrificing the deep, deliberate gameplay beloved by the competitive community. Grab your friends and get shootin'.

PowerWash Simulator 2

  • Developer: FuturLab
  • Released: 23 October, 2025
  • Game Pass tier: Ultimate, PC

Chores are always better with friends to keep you company, and the same goes for virtual scrubbing. PowerWash Simulator 2 is one of the most satisfying games you can play and remains one of the best Xbox co-op games to play with a friend, either in couch co-op or online. We've broken down all you need to know about cross play, split-screen, and cross-saves in this PowerWash Simulator co-op guide.

PowerWash Simulator 2 is a chilled cleaning sim where you blast away stubborn dirt and grime with a power washer. Like the original, the core idea is simple but sublimely satisfying and surprisingly relaxing: approach filthy surfaces, spray them down until they gleam, and enjoy the glorious contrast between muck and shine. The sequel hands you and your co-washing pals a selection of new tools, jobs, and access to features that deepen the experience while keeping it breezy and accessible for pretty much all ages.

Stardew Valley

  • Developer: ConcernedApe
  • Released: 14 December, 2016
  • Game Pass tier: Essential, Premium, Ultimate

Stardew Valley’s co-op mode transforms its peaceful, but somewhat isolated, farm life into a laid-back family affair, where up to four players can work side by side on the same farm. Rather than competing against each other, everyone collaborates to grow crops, raise animals, mine ores, fish, forage, complete quests, and explore together. It's a sweet and rewarding way to spend your time, where many goals are shared, but things like NPC relationships and your own inventory are your business. Stardew Valley on Xbox Game Pass is a great cozy co-op game for chill friend groups. You might not be able to afford a farm in real life, but this'll be the virtual homestead you always dreamed of.

Sea Of Thieves

It's a game made specifically for co-op play, dropping you into a vast ocean filled with treasure, enemies, and fellow pirates, letting you roleplay whatever kind of seafaring life you like. The game continues to receive updates more than a decade later, making it perfect for new players and those who've spent some time away.

Abiotic Factor

  • Developer: Deep Field Games
  • Released: 22 July, 2025
  • Game Pass tier: Premium, Ultimate, PC

Abiotic Factor is a first-person survival-crafting game set deep inside a sprawling underground research facility after a catastrophic containment breach. Up to six friends can team up to survive, explore, build, and escape together. If you're easily overstimulated, this one might not be for you--there's a LOT going on. Paranormal entities, interdimensional portals, suspicious artifacts, and a creepy military sect are all just a day in the life of an employee of GATE.

In co-op, everyone creates their own scientist and chooses a specialization that grants unique perks and abilities. Together you’ll scavenge offices and labs for resources, craft tools and improvised weapons, fortify a base, and try to stay alive against… pretty much everything else. Abiotic Factor is violent, smart, and frequently hilarious--perfect for those pals who love a cheesy '90s sci fi flick but want something a bit more interactive.
