A24's Backrooms is almost here, and a new trailer has given horror fans their best look yet at the upcoming scary movie. While the first teaser was just a minute of increasingly creepy shots of empty spaces, the new trailer introduces the film's cast and shows more of the expansive Backrooms.

The film follows people exploring, and getting lost in, the titular Backrooms, a liminal space in an otherworldly dimension where the walls are yellow, the carpet is damp, and it's largely empty... except for strange creatures that navigate its hallways. "God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you," reads a 4chan comment that helped originate The Backrooms.

Backrooms stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Doctor Strange), Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World, Sentimental Value), and Lukita Maxwell (Generation, Shrinking), among others. Notably, it's directed by 20-year-old Kane Parsons, who was only 17 when the project was announced. He helped popularize the Backrooms through a series of short films on his YouTube channel, the first of which has over 73 million views. From what we've seen of Backrooms so far, it certainly seems like Parsons is the perfect person to adapt the creepypasta into a feature-length film.

Backrooms hits theaters on May 29, 2026, and Parsons will have to wait a month to legally pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate his first feature. You can check out the film's eerie posters below.
