The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Recruited A Top Gun To Voice Fox McCloud

It's official: Running Man star Glen Powell is the voice of Fox McCloud in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Earlier this week, Nintendo revealed that the ace pilot of the Star Fox series will appear in the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, but it left people guessing as to who exactly was voicing him.

That was until today, when the Top Gun: Maverick actor confirmed on his Instagram account that he was "born to Barrel Roll" and that he was providing his vocal talents to the film. The sequel already has a stacked cast, and includes the returning cast of Chris Pratt (Mario), Charlie Day (Luigi), Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), Keegan Michael-Key (Toad), and Jack Black (Bowser) alongside newcomers Brie Larson (Rosalina), Donald Glover (Yoshi), and Benny Safdie (Bowser Jr.).

It's unclear yet just how big Fox McCloud's role will be in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but his inclusion is a big surprise. Outside of the Smash Bros. fighting game franchise, McCloud has never visited the Mushroom Kingdom, and Nintendo generally keeps its franchises separate from one another. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie appears to be breaking those rules, as, alongside Star Fox, it looks like Pikmin will show up in the animated film.
