Christian has over three years of experience writing in the gaming industry, including guides and reviews, for publications such as DualShockers, Attack of the Fanboy, and PC Invasion. He has been an avid gamer since he was a kid, viewing it as the best possible art form and medium. Some of his favorite genres include Survival Horror, Soulslikes, and RPGs, but he finds joy in almost any type of game.

Crimson Desert offers players many different methods of traversal. Players can ride a horse, ride a dragon, fly a mech, and even take off with a jetpack. Most of the game's available mounts are locked behind main story progression, or require players to go off the beaten path to unlock them.

The jetpack is completely missable in Crimson Desert, meaning you can go an entire playthrough without using it. However, it's recommended to acquire one as soon as possible as it allows Oongka to fly around the map and look very cool while doing so.

How to Unlock a Jetpack in Crimson Desert

Unlocking Jetpack in Crimson Desert

The first fact you need to know about unlocking a jetpack in Crimson Desert is that it doesn't become available until Chapter 8. Once you reach this Chapter, you'll unlock Pailune as a hub city, filling it up with merchants, quests, and friendly NPCs to interact with.

Once Pailune is fully functional, you will unlock the Fire breathing Pack faction quest. During this quest, your objective is to find Grimnir's assistant on the south side of Pailune city.

Approaching Grimnir's assistant will result in him walking up to you and handing over a piece of paper. This piece of paper, which turns out to be called "Letter from Grimnir," explains how to make a Kuku Rocket Pack, this game's version of a jetpack.

Make sure to examine the piece of paper to officially earn the Blueprint II: Kuku Rocket Pack. If you don't examine paper, you will not unlock the option to officially craft it.

If you go to the Knowledge tab of the main menu and navigate to Kuku Pot, you can find the Blueprint II: Kuku Rocket Pack instruction manual. It's here that you can learn that the Kuku Rocket Pack can be crafted at the Mysterious Iron Pot at the Kilnden Workshop. The location of this workshop can be found in the image below.

In order to craft the Kuku Rocket Pack, you will need the necessary materials. Crafting a Kuku Rocket Pack requires the following: 1x Kuku Pack, 5x Copper Ore, 10x Iron Ore, 5x Cogwheel, and 3x Small Battery.

The good news is that most of these items are not very difficult to acquire. For starters, Iron Ore and Copper Ore can be purchased by traveling merchants and equipment shops, as well as mined from ore deposits throughout the game world.

As for Cogwheels and Small Batteries, these are obtained by defeating Abyss enemies, looting treasure chests, and can be purchased from some traveling merchants.

Lastly, the Kuku Pack can also be crafted at the Kilnden Workshop with 1x Kuku Pot and 1x Peddler's Pack. Once you have all the necessary materials, speak to Grimnir at the workshop to craft the Kuku Rocket Pack, giving Oongka the ability to fly.

Keep in mind that the Kuku Rocket Pack works similar to Kliff's gliding ability. It consumes stamina and will only stay active for as long as your stamina allows. In this case, you want to increase your Stamina with Abyss Artifacts so Oongka can fly for longer periods.
