Covering the video games industry since 2017, with experience in news, articles, lists, and reviews (and I blame The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for that).
If you are a fan of RPGs and want a third-person version: Tayná Garcia is a Brazilian journalist (but you can call her Tay) who ended up working with video games after finishing Zelda: Majora's Mask when she was a kid. With more than eight years of experience in the segment, she has been an assistant editor at Jovem Nerd in the past and is currently a contributor at DualShockers and a writer for gaming magazines for Editora Europa. Oh, and she may like Hideo Kojima a bit too much.
With the release of Scott Pilgrim EX, the franchise proves that pixelated beat ‘em up chaos is what it does best, delivering an experience with a brand-new story penned by its creator, Bryan Lee O’Malley.
While the first game was all about defeating the League of Evil Exes and allowing Scott to have a happy ending with Ramona, now you must face gangs of vegans, demons, and robots in a non-linear journey that requires you to be part-fighter and part-detective in a narrative that plays with time, space, and a bunch of crazy twists.

And one of the most intriguing moments of this new adventure happens in the final chapter, when the iconic Wallace Wells decides to play the riddle master. He pops up claiming he has traveled to the future and read a guide on how to beat the game – perhaps the very one you are reading right now –, where he discovered how to unlock the sealed door to end Chapter 12: Gran Finale.
To move forward, you will need more than just brute force, but also a sharp memory to remember some of the main points of interest you have encountered so far in the game. The mission is clear but quite challenging: you must find three hidden Beacons by retracing your steps backward along the map, focusing your fighting spirit on the three gangs that define this universe: vegans, demons, and robots.
That is why we have put together this guide with the exact location of every Beacon and, more importantly, the specific steps you must take to claim each one.
The First Beacon: Medieval Fort (Vegans)
To claim the first Beacon, your destination is the Medieval Fort, where you are teleported to a medieval-themed alternative timeline. So, go back to High Park (in the middle of the Shopping Area), and enter the portal.
Here, go left to find Julie Powers and Julienne (the medieval version of her, of course) in the very first area. Talk to them, and the Vegan Vans will show up right after to crash the party. Now, you have only one option: defeat all of them and smash their van to pieces to discover that they have the item.
After finishing the job, enter the dungeon with the “Burger” sign hanging above it to your left. Inside, after a brief chat with an absurdly buff Beach Vegan, a horde of enemies will spawn to test your reflexes again. They are all different versions of vegans, from weakest to strongest, so be careful and try to defeat them quickly – in case you need assistance, use a powerful Assist move to avoid getting cornered, like Young Neil, Knives Chau, or Crash and the Boys.
Only after clearing the room and proving you are the king of the medieval fort will the first Beacon finally be yours, marking the start of your reverse hunt.
The Second Beacon: Casa Vania (Demons)
The journey to the second Beacon is located at Casa Vania, where you will encounter Wendy right in the entrance hall. Speak with her to hear a tip about something glowing in the cemetery to the left, then head there to find the desired item in the middle of the graveyard.
However, when you interact with the lonely Beacon in the center of the gravestones, hordes of enemies will appear, led by Wendy, revealing it was all a demonic ambush. This time, you are fighting different versions of demons. But your strategy should be the same: try to quickly defeat them and avoid getting cornered, using Assists that can deal damage to multiple enemies at the same time, like Young Neil, Knives Chau, or Crash and the Boys (pro tip: you can also shift your Assist in the middle of the battle).
This fight can get hectic, so stay on your toes! After surviving waves of enemies, Wendy will acknowledge your victory by handing over the second Beacon.
The Third Beacon: VR Room (Robots)
Finally, the ultimate challenge awaits at Stephen Stills’ house, located in the very first area of the game in the Suburbs, so just follow the map all the way to the left.
As soon as you enter the house, head down to the VR Room and speak with Virtual Wallace to discover that the last Beacon is protected by a “Hell Tutorial.” This is actually a special stage where you ascend an elevator and must keep it completely empty for 20 seconds (it is cumulative).
This test requires nerves of steel because “completely empty” means really, really empty – not even a single item can remain. The tip here is to punch crates off the platform instead of throwing them, as they tend to bounce back and ruin your timer.
With that in mind, just keep the elevator clean and clear of robot enemies by defeating them as soon as they appear. Just don’t give them room to breathe and waste no time. If you need a hand, use Young Neil as an Assist to clear the screen when the robots try to overwhelm you, or Knives Chau to power up your speed and deliver punches more quickly.
Speak to Virtual Wallace again after finishing the chaotic level, and the third Beacon will finally be handed to you, guaranteeing your triumphant entry into Chapter 12: Gran Finale. Congrats! Now you are ready to go back to the real Wallace and open the door to the final boss of the game.
