Have you ever encountered a wild goose in your travels? Thrown it into the river or defeated it with your bare hands? I know Where Winds Meetis a pretty odd game, you don’t have to tell me that.

Well, turns out those experiences lead to even more interesting quests. Quests that send you around the land, completing strange tasks for even stranger people. On the surface, these tasks might seem insignificant and ultimately a waste of time. But don’t worry, it’s all just a part of the wonder and whimsy of this world.

So strap on your boots and get those musical fingers ready, because it’s time to prove your worth to Lady Zhou.

Quest Prerequisites

As far as I’ve read so far, it seems as though quite a few people were struggling to get this quest to unlock, not knowing some of the requirements to begin it.

So, before you head over to the Blissful Retreat to begin, first off, make sure you’ve killed at least 1 Goose.

This could either be the enraged Goose you encounter at the beginning of the game, by chucking it into the river. Or, like me, you can grab a bounty from Wandering Paths, slay a Goose and get a tidy reward. Your character will mention this feat when they first start the quest.

In addition, make sure you’ve cleared out the Bloomveil Monastery at least once. This area also plays a part in the telling of the quest.

Some reports state that the quest can’t be started if you have too many encounters started, or if Blissful Retreat has already been burned down. However, in my experience, neither of these affected my ability to begin the quest.

Quest Objectives

Trial 1

Firstly, head over to the small gathering of people, past the red archway in Blissful Retreat. Speak with one of the servants and tell him of your adventuring prowess. However, if you want to be eligible to escort Lady Zhou, you first need to prove yourself through 3 challenges.

After exhausting his dialogue, teleport to the Boundary Stone atop Moonveil Peak, and head east down the mountain. Head over to the marked location, where a servant will task you with defeating a bear and grabbing some of its fur.

Remember, whenever you see a bear, look for oddly shaped rocks on the walls. The bear can be thrown against the wall using Tai Chi for a free chest!

A bear? Easy, right? You’ve fought bears before, so just use a bit of your Tai Chi and take it down without much fuss. Return to the Servant, who will be rather bewildered by your success, and hand him the Fur.

The next Trial will require you to go to another servant located just west of Crimson Peak,near the large pool of drained water (if you’ve done that quest already).

Now you’ll be tasked with playing along to a song on your Guqin. If you’ve never played the musical minigame before, then this might not be the easiest thing in the world.

There are 6 strings, all requiring a different button to press. If you’ve played Guitar Hero before, then it’s pretty similar. However, it can be a little trickier on a controller.

As the note comes down the string, press the corresponding button as the note falls into the circle. You’ll get a score and streak based on how accurate you are. The best way to do this, I found, is by placing 3 fingers on your left and 3 on your right in the order shown by the notes on the screen. So each falling note represents that finger.

While the song isn’t terribly complex, there are a few bits where you’ll need to play the notes rather quickly, so familiarise yourself with the notes and your finger placements before you begin.

I’m not sure if you can actually fail this, as I played pretty badly and still got through. So don’t worry about scuffing it too much.

Trial 3

After that, head over to Heaven’s Pier and find the next servant, who will, in turn, tell you to find a page boy located nearby. However, you’ll need to give the boy a secret phrase: "Though far, not far; though empty, not empty."

Upon repeating the phrase, the boy will task you with sitting and meditating on top of one of the nearby rooftops.

Firstly, head to the indicated roof and activate the prompt shown on screen. 1 day and night will automatically pass. Return to the boy, and he will express that he messed up the roof, and it’s actually a different rooftop. So rinse and repeat.

After you complete the second roof and find that nothing has happened, return to the boy, where you’ll find him having a conversation with the servant. Listen in to their conversation and then approach them to finish the 3rd trial.

The following cutscene will show you meeting with the fabled Lady Zhou, getting kidnapped by a bunch of monks in her place, and then subsequently beating them all senseless. However, don’t worry, you don’t actually have to do any combat here, as it’s all shown through cutscenes. Lady Zhou will thank you and ride away. And that’s it! Quest Complete!

Quest Rewards

Upon completion of the quest, you will be rewarded with:

50x Echo Jade
50x Qinghe Exploration
15000 Coins
15000 EXP

Additionally, you will also be given a costume called the Alms Pilgrim. If you want to equip this, first head into the Wardrobe menu, and you’ll find a unique hairstyle and a robe for your character.

You will also receive 100 Enlightenment Points. Once you receive 1500 points, you will earn a Talent Point, which can be spent on the talent tree for a bunch of useful passive upgrades.
