The Paladin is the shining example of heroism in Dungeons & Dragons, a tradition that continues on into Solasta 2, as the holy knights are one of the first classes added to the Early Access build.
Paladins are warriors who can channel divine magic into their weapons, allowing them to obliterate evil wherever they find it. They also possess healing magic, allowing them to cure the wounds of their allies who fight alongside them in the eternal war against the darkness.

Classic Dungeons & Dragons Video Game Remaster Leaks Online
A classic Dungeons & Dragons video game is getting the remaster treatment, according to a new leak.
Paladins are an ideal choice for a leader in Solasta 2, seeing as they're great in combat and have tons of skills that make them effective talkers. If a Paladin is going to be your main character, then they need to be as strong as possible to survive the dangers of Neokos, which means using a great build.
This guide is based on the Early Access build of Solasta 2, released on March 12, 2026. The game is expected to receive new updates and increase the level cap in the future, so this guide will be updated over time.
Best Paladin Stats In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresOne of the trickiest aspects of the Paladin is that they have to spread their stats around more than other classes. The ideal Paladin needs a high Strength score for combat, Charisma for powering their supernatural abilities, Dexterity for their Armor Class, and Constitution for their hit points.
The best build for a Paladin is a high Strength, followed by Charisma, then trying to squeeze the other points into Dexterity and Constitution. Ultimately, they're a combat class with a high damage output, so you'll need to buff their Strength as much as possible, so that has to be the priority.
Best Paladin Ancestry/Species In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresThe Early Access build for Solasta 2 has four Ancestries for the player to choose from. The best Paladin option is the Dwarf, thanks to their Darkvision, resistance to Poison, bonus hit points, and Tremorsense, allowing them to fight opponents they cannot see. These combined gifts will make you much more effective in combat.

Baldur's Gate 3: 10 Ways to Make Your Next Playthrough Different
Baldur's Gate 3 is a massive game with endless replayability. But how can you make each playthrough feel unique?
The second-best choice is the Human with the Robust Origin Feat. Robust grants extra hit points and makes you harder to kill, which are prized commodities for a character whose main role is to rush to the front lines and engage the enemy face-to-face.
Best Paladin Background/Origin Feat In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresBackgrounds in Solasta 2 determine what stats will receive a +2 and a +1 bonus, as well as granting an Origin Feat, providing some extra abilities outside the character's chosen class.
The best Background for the Paladin is the Wanderer. Not only can they put bonus points into Strength, Constitution, and Dexterity, but they also gain the Savage Attacker Feat, letting them roll damage dice twice, going for the higher result each time. This is a great choice for the purely combat-focused Paladin.
The other great Background choice for the Paladin is the Aristocrat. They can put bonus points into Strength, Charisma, and Constitution. They also receive the Skilled Feat, letting them pick three more Skill Proficiencies. Pick this option if you intend the Paladin to be the face of the group, as this gives you more Skill coverage.
Best Paladin Skills In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresThe Paladin isn't really a Skill-focused class, only receiving two picks (not counting ones from their Background or their Ancestry.) Luckily, there are some picks that are better than others that players should go for.
- Persuasion — If you're going to be the face of the party, pick this straight away, especially as it benefits from a high Charisma modifier.
- Athletics — If you're the only bruiser in the party, pick Athletics, as you'll be able to reliably deal with large objects.
- Intimidation — Like Persuasion, this is a great choice for dialogue-heavy characters, as it allows you to end a lot of fights before they start, especially random encounters.
Best Paladin Subclass In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresOnce a Paladin reaches level 3 in Solasta 2, they can select one of two subclasses, granting them extra abilities that don't appear in Baldur's Gate 3. These subclasses are the Oath of Judgment and the Oath of Liberation.
The Oath of Judgment Paladin adds Guiding Bolt and Inflict Wounds to their spell list. They also gain the Weight of Justice ability, allowing them to expend Channel Divinity when attacking an enemy to make them take extra damage equal to the Paladin's level, as well as force a Charisma Saving Throw against Restrained, and Purge Corruption, which removes negative status effects.

Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Lets You Play As A Magic Robot
A new Baldur's Gate 3 mod has added the Warforged race from Dungeons & Dragons to the game.
The Oath of Liberation Paladin adds Expeditious Retreat and Sleep to their spell list. They also gain the Blinding Castigation ability, which blinds a foe within 60ft, but they get a Charisma Saving Throw at the end of their turns to break it, and Slip Away, which makes all allies within 30ft Invisible until the end of their next turn.
The best subclass is tricky, as Oath of Judgement has better spells, but Oath of Liberation has better abilities. Of the two, Oath of Liberation wins out, as the Cleric gets easy access to Guiding Bolt and Inflict Wounds, and the Paladin can get it with the Magic Initiate (Cleric) Feat if they really need it. The Oath of Liberation's powers are more unique, and are amazing in combat.
Best Paladin Weapon Masteries In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresA new system in the Dungeons & Dragons 2024 rules, present in Solasta 2, is Weapon Mastery. These are benefits you pick when resting that provide extra abilities when you attack, so long as you use the right weapon. These are the best Weapon Masteries for Paladins in Solasta 2:
- Greataxe/Cleave - Paladins can be an extremely deadly class, thanks to Divine Smite. The Cleave Weapon Mastery gives you a free attack against an enemy within melee range after you've slain someone. The Greataxe is a two-handed weapon, meaning no shield, but it's worth it for the damage output.

Here's your chance to play Baldur's Gate 3 as new subclasses on consoles. Or, you know, as a car.
- Javelin/Slow - The Paladin isn't really a ranged character, but it's best to have a backup option. Enter the Javelin, which uses your Strength bonus and has the Slow effect, reducing an enemy's movement speed, possibly forcing them to Dash to close the distance and burn their turn.
- Longsword/Sap - If the player wants to use a shield, then they should go for the Longsword as their main weapon. The Sap Weapon Mastery causes the enemy they strike to have Disadvantage on its next attack, making it a great and safe pick for bigger enemies.
Best Paladin Spells In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresPaladins aren't primary spellcasters, like the Cleric or Wizard, but they still receive spell slots. This is because their Smiting spells (a core aspect of the class) use slots to cast, with Divine Smite itself now being a spell, as the original version from old Dungeons & Dragons 5e was OP.
Don't bother taking Divine Smite straight away, as you'll get it for free when you reach Level 2. Just take Searing Smite at Level 1 and be patient — you'll quickly reach Level 2.
The Paladin doesn't receive Cantrips (except via Origin Feats), but they do receive spells. As of the Early Access build of Solasta 2, they only receive Level 1 spells. The best Paladin spells in Solasta 2 are:
|
Divine Smite |
The bread and butter of the Paladin's arsenal, Divine Smite adds 2d8 Radiant damage alongside the regular attack damage, plus an additional d8 if the enemy is a fiend or undead. |
Used When Attacking |
|
Searing Smite |
Searing Smite only adds 1d6 Fire damage to the attack, but the enemy takes an additional 1d6 at the end of their turns (though a Constitution save breaks the effect.) A good choice for boss monsters that don't resist fire. |
Used When Attacking |
|
Cure Wounds |
While Paladins do receive healing in the form of Lay on Hands, it's wise to keep Cure Wounds as a backup, especially if the Cleric is downed. |
Action |
|
Divine Favor |
Adds 1d4 Radiant damage for ten rounds. It's a small amount of damage, but it can really add up, especially when facing lots of weaker foes. |
Bonus Action |
Best Paladin Feats In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresThe Early Access build of Solasta 2 maxes out as Level 4, which means all the party members will get access to a single Feat, which are powers that exist outside their class. The best Paladin Feat options in Solasta 2 are:
- Ability Score Improvement — As the Paladin is stretched so thin, stat point-wise, it's smart to allocate Ability Score Improvement to either try to max out Strength or Charisma, or potentially get more benefits from Dexterity and Constitution.
- Eager for Battle — This Feat gives an ability score point, grants Advantage on Initiative checks, and adds 10ft to the Paladin's movement speed. This is helpful for allowing the Paladin to act quicker and get into the fray sooner, as you'll want them Smiting as soon as possible.
- Follow-Up Strike — If you're using a two-handed weapon, pick this Feat, as it lets you spend your Bonus Action to perform a second attack that deals 1d4 + Strength damage.
