The Rogue is one of the first classes available in Solasta 2, and why shouldn't it be? Dungeons & Dragons parties have multiple choices for their spellcasters, healers, and warriors, but every single group needs at least one Rogue, because they're the best at what they do, and that's dealing with traps.

Well, Rogues are more than just glorified metal detectors. They have a wide range of abilities that make them useful outside of combat, as their main focus is having lots of Skills. Rogues are also no slouch in a fight, as their Sneak Attack can be a reliable and deadly damage dealer when enemies have surrounded the party.

Classic Dungeons & Dragons Video Game Remaster Leaks Online

A classic Dungeons & Dragons video game is getting the remaster treatment, according to a new leak.

The Rogue is so useful that you pretty much need to have one in your Solasta 2 party, at least until the Bard or the Ranger class is added to the game. If you're going to be carting around one of these sneaky customers, then you should at least make them as strong as possible.

This guide is based on the Early Access build of Solasta 2, released on March 12, 2026. The game is expected to receive new updates and increase the level cap in the future, so this guide will be updated over time.

Best Rogue Stats in Solasta 2

The Rogue will most likely be a ranged fighter who wears light armor, which means Dexterity should be your main priority. Max out Dexterity as soon as possible! Your most important out-of-combat skills are also Dexterity-based and will make the Rogue effective at keeping the party safe from trap damage.

After Dexterity, Intelligence should be a priority, as lots of useful Skills are based on Intelligence, and will provide extra information if you pass their checks. After Intelligence, focus on Constitution, as this will not only provide more hit points, but will make it more likely for you to evade some of the more common enemy spells in Solasta 2.

Best Rogue Ancestry/Species in Solasta 2

The best Ancestry for the Rogue in Solasta 2 is the Dwarf. Not only do they have Darkvision, bonus hit points, and a resistance to Poison, but they have natural Tremorsense. This effectively makes you immune to invisible foes, as well as shielding the Rogue from the blindness debuff.

Baldur's Gate 3: Best Swarmkeeper Ranger Build

Swarmkeeper is one of my favorite Baldur's Gate 3 classes. Here is a build that I consider to be the best in the game.

After the Dwarf, the best choice is the Halfling, thanks to their ability to move through enemy spaces. This becomes far more useful at level 2, when they can use Cunning Action for a free Disengage, allowing them to bypass Attacks of Opportunity. They also reroll any 1s on a d20 check, which is especially useful for disarming traps.

Best Rogue Background/Origin Feat in Solasta 2

In the new Dungeons & Dragons 2024 rules, Backgrounds are far more important than they were in Baldur's Gate 3, as they determine where you can put your bonus stat points. They also provide an Origin Feat, giving you some more abilities at level 1.

For the Rogue, the best Background is the Spy. Not only does it let you put bonus stat points into Dexterity, Intelligence, or Charisma, but it provides Deception and Perception skill bonuses, and grants the Vigilant Origin Feat, turning the Perception proficiency into Expertise (boosting the bonus), and prevents Disadvantage on Initiative checks when surprised.

After the Spy, the best Background is the Academic. This provides bonus stat points for Dexterity, Intelligence, and Constitution, gives Proficiency in the useful Arcana and History Skills, and gives the Magic Initiate (Wizard) Origin Feat. Magic Initiate provides access to spells, so take the Shadow Armor and Shocking Grasp Cantrips, and the Sleep spell.

Best Rogue Skills in Solasta 2

Rogues get the most starting Skills of any class in Solasta 2. They get four Skills off the bat, and an extra two from their Proficiency. They also gain Expertise, allowing them to further increase the bonus. The best Rogue skills in Solasta 2 are:

Sleight of Hand: This is used anytime you disable a trap or pick a lock. Not only should you pick this, but it should be one of your Expertise picks.

Investigation: This is used to detect clues in the environment. Another great Expertise pick.

Stealth: This is used whenever you sneak past a foe. As Solasta 2 is big on surprise attacks and gaining the high ground, this is incredibly useful.

Perception: Similar to Investigation, Perception is used to detect dangerous elements in the environment.

Best Rogue Subclass in Solasta 2

In Solasta 2, the Rogue picks their subclass at level 3, and these are completely different than the options available in Baldur's Gate 3 or Dungeons & Dragons. Unfortunately, the options that are in the Early Access build aren't that great. They are the Scavenger and the Shadowcaster.

The Scavenger receives an automatic discount when shopping, and they deal an extra 1d6 Slashing damage the first time they hit an enemy each turn, effectively giving them a higher level of Sneak Attack.

Classic D&D Video Game Is Being Remastered On PC & Consoles

After accidentally being leaked by Steam a few weeks ago, a classic Dungeons & Dragons video game remaster has been confirmed for PC and consoles.

The Shadowcaster gains access to a limited number of Wizard spells and Cantrips, and can deal Sneak Attack damage with spells that require an attack roll.

Of the two, the Scavenger is the better option, though there aren't many items that can be bought in the Early Access build. Shadowcaster would be better, except for the fact that they lose access to Vex, as spells don't have Weapon Masteries. The guaranteed extra damage of the Scavenger causes it to win out, but that ranking might change when more levels are added to Early Access.

Best Rogue Weapon Masteries in Solasta 2

One of the new systems in Solasta 2, taken from Dungeons & Dragons 2024, is Weapon Masteries. These are extra abilities that kick in if you use specific weapons in combat. The Rogue only gets to pick two, but that should be enough for your needs.

In order to use Sneak Attack in combat, the Rogue either needs to have Advantage on their attack or have an ally within 5ft of the enemy. Vex is one of the easiest ways to hit the Sneak Attack condition.

Shortsword/Vex - If you hit a creature with your Shortsword, Vex gives you Advantage on your next attack against the creature, meaning an automatic Sneak Attack. The Rapier is also a great choice for this Weapon Mastery, so consider altering your pick when finding a magical weapon.

Shortbow/Vex - For the same reasons listed above, a Vex weapon is perfect for the Rogue. The Shortbow is even more effective than the Shortsword, as it has a much longer range.

Best Rogue Feats in Solasta 2

Once the Rogue reaches level 4 in Solasta 2, they'll gain access to a bonus Feat. There are a couple of great options for the Rogue, as you'll likely need better ranged options.

Baldur's Gate 3: 10 Ways to Make Your Next Playthrough Different

Baldur's Gate 3 is a massive game with endless replayability. But how can you make each playthrough feel unique?

Agile Skirmisher - This gives a Dexterity point, removes Disadvantage when firing in melee range, and prevents a creature you hit with a ranged attack from doing Attacks of Opportunity against you.

Death from Above - This gives a Dexterity point, and if you're above an enemy, you add your Proficiency Bonus to hit and damage. A lot of combat in Solasta 2 involves getting to higher elevations, so this is a great pick.

Uncanny Accuracy - This gives a Dexterity point and allows you to ignore most kinds of cover when hitting an enemy with a ranged attack or spell.

Is The Rogue Worth Multiclassing in Solasta 2?

Arguably, the best multiclass build in Dungeons & Dragons 5e is the Fighter/Rogue, thanks to the stacking of Sneak Attack and Action Surge.

The only problem with doing this in Solasta 2 is that the Early Access level cap is 4, which is awkward for multiclass builds. It means that the player is missing out on their subclass options. For the Fighter/Rogue, if they want Action Surge, they miss out on the subclass and stronger Sneak Attack.

The Fighter/Rogue will be a lot more viable when Solasta 2 adds level 5, but until then, it's better to just stick to one or the other. Right now, the Rogue is good enough on its own to not require those extra Fighter level buffs.
