Solasta 2 offers two arcane spellcasters that are present in Dungeons & Dragons: the Sorcerer and the Wizard. While Sorcerers rely on the magic handed down from their ancestors, Wizards learned it themselves, through hard work and dedication to their craft, not because their grandma slept with Smaug.
The Wizard is the master of magical utility, being able to learn every arcane spell in the game (barring a few class exclusives), and can easily switch them out when they take a Long Rest. This makes them the best casters to have around when you know what you're going to be facing, as they can prepare their arsenal accordingly.

Classic Dungeons & Dragons Video Game Remaster Leaks Online
A classic Dungeons & Dragons video game is getting the remaster treatment, according to a new leak.
The Wizards in Solasta 2 are a little different, mostly owing to their subclasses, as the classic Specialist Mages of old aren't here. Instead, there are new forms of magic to learn, all just waiting to be unleashed upon the enemy.
This guide is based on the Early Access build of Solasta 2, released on March 12, 2026. The game is expected to receive new updates and increase the level cap in the future, so this guide will be updated over time.
Best Wizard Stats In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresThe Wizard is a primary spellcaster class whose magic is tied to their Intelligence. You need to prioritize Intelligence and max it out as soon as possible, as it determines your Spell Save DC and the effectiveness of your spell attack rolls!
Next, put points into Dexterity, as this raises your Armor Class. The Wizard is incredibly squishy, so it's better not to get hit than to have to tank enemy blows.
Finally, put points into Constitution, as this will give you extra hit points. While getting hit isn't ideal, you'll want to be able to survive if an enemy slips through your defenses.
Best Wizard Ancestry/Species In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresThe best Ancestry for Wizards in Solasta 2 is the High Elf. Not only does this provide the benefits of being an elf (Fey Ancestry especially), but it provides a bonus Cantrip and access to the Longstrider spell. Once Solasta 2 adds Level 5, they'll also gain access to Misty Step, which is an amazing teleportation spell.

Baldur's Gate 3: 10 Ways to Make Your Next Playthrough Different
Baldur's Gate 3 is a massive game with endless replayability. But how can you make each playthrough feel unique?
The other great Ancestry option for Wizards is the Human, as they can start with the Ready for War Origin Feat, which gives Light Armor Proficiency, ensuring the caster isn't stuck running around in a robe for their adventure.
In the current Dungeons & Dragons rules, Wizards can cast spells wearing any armor, but they need proficiency with that kind of armor to do so, which is one of the many benefits of multiclassing.
Best Wizard Background/Origin Feat In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresThe Dungeons & Dragons 2024 rules update drastically changed how Backgrounds work, making them far more important. Now, Backgrounds determine which stats can receive bonus stat points, and what Origin Feat is available.
If you have chosen to play a High Elf Wizard, select Sellsword as your Background. This lets you put points into Intelligence and Constitution, but more importantly, it gives you Ready for War, an Origin Feat. As mentioned above, this lets you wear light armor, giving you a higher Armor Class at the time when you need it the most.

A new Baldur's Gate 3 mod has added the Warforged race from Dungeons & Dragons to the game.
If you have chosen to play a Human Wizard, select Academic, as this lets you put extra points into Intelligence, Dexterity, or Constitution. Additionally, it gives you the Magic Initiate (Wizard) Feat, granting you two more Cantrips and a Level 1 spell.
Best Wizard Skills In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresUnlike the Sorcerer, the Wizard is actually adept at using Skills outside of combat, helped by their high Intelligence. The best Skills for the Wizard in Solasta 2 are:
- Arcana — This skill comes up a lot in Solasta 2 and is basically the default whenever you see something weird. It's boosted by Intelligence, so take it as soon as possible.
- Investigation — This skill helps you notice things in the environment, providing clues that can be vital for your survival.
- Religion — Even if there's a Cleric in the group, chances are you'll have a better Religion score than them. You'll encounter lots of mysterious new religions in Neokos, so this is very helpful to have.
- Nature — Druids and Rangers aren't in Solasta 2 yet, so you'll have to be the Steve Irwin of the group, providing hints about weird things you spot in the wild.
Best Wizard Subclass In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresThere are two subclasses for the Wizard in Solasta 2's Early Access build: School of Ruin and Court Mage. These roughly translate to the Evoker and Abjurer from the Dungeons & Dragons 2024 rules.
The School of Ruin Wizard automatically learns two new spells, so long as they deal damage, and will gain an extra damaging spell whenever they gain a new level of spell slots. Additionally, they learn Destructive Magic, which increases a spell's damage per dice rolled for its effect.

20 Popular Baldur's Gate 3 Mods Are Now Available on Consoles
Here's your chance to play Baldur's Gate 3 as new subclasses on consoles. Or, you know, as a car.
The Court Mage gains Always Prepared, giving the Wizard proficiency with shields and the Shield Fighting Style, as well as the Spell Shield power, allowing them to conjure a magical barrier for themselves and an ally within 30ft, which has the Wizard's level times three in hit points.
Of the two Wizard subclasses, School of Ruin is the better choice, mostly because Solasta 2 is a combat-heavy game, and it's likely that they'll be your only arcane damage dealer. Destructive Magic is just too useful in combat to ignore.
Best Wizard Spells In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresAs Solasta 2's Early Access build only goes to Level 4, a Wizard character will only receive Cantrips and Level 1-2 spells. They learn way more spells than the Sorcerer and can add to their arsenal throughout the game, so you can be a bit more frivolous with your picks.
The best Wizard Cantrips in Solasta 2 are:
|
Poison Spray |
Has the highest damage output of the arcane Cantrips, but only has a 30ft range. |
Action |
|
Fire Bolt |
Has a smaller damage output than Poison Spray, but has a much longer range. |
Action |
|
Dazzle |
A melee Cantrip that prevents an opponent from taking Reactions, potentially preventing them from using Attacks of Opportunity, and allowing the Wizard to escape. |
Bonus Action |
|
Chill Touch |
A melee Cantrip that not only deals damage, but prevents the enemy from healing for the turn. |
Action |
|
Shadow Armor |
Gives three temporary hit points for a minute, which is a small, but potentially lifesaving buff. |
Action |
The best Level 1 Wizard spells in Solasta 2 are:
|
Magic Missile |
While the damage output of Magic Missile isn't high, it's guaranteed to hit, and can be bolstered with Destructive Magic, making it an ideal way to kill off wounded opponents. |
Action |
|
Thunderwave |
If your Wizard is surrounded by opponents, then Thunderwave will deal a ton of damage to them. |
Action |
|
Hideous Laughter |
Hideous Laughter is the best debilitating spell in Solasta 2 so far, as it forces the enemy to make a Wisdom Saving throw. If they fail, they're knocked Prone and Incapacitated, which can let you make short work of boss monsters. |
Action |
|
Ray of Sickness |
Ray of Sickness deals 2d8 damage and inflicts the Poisoned condition for the turn, severely weakening an enemy it hits. |
Action |
|
Identify |
Not all magic items will have their purpose revealed when you find them. Identity will uncover their secrets, and it can be cast as a Ritual, meaning it doesn't use a spell slot if you don't mind a longer casting time. |
Action/Ritual |
The best Level 2 Wizard spells in Solasta 2 are:
|
Shatter |
Shatter is easily the best arcane spell in Solasta 2 so far, thanks to its wide range and AoE, allowing you to blast opponents using an element (Thunder) that most creatures don't resist. |
Action |
|
Scorching Ray |
Creates three fiery rays that can damage multiple opponents. Best used if you've received Advantage on attack rolls from an ally's effect. |
Action |
|
Blindness |
Can blind an opponent if they fail a Constitution Saving Throw, making it much harder for them to hit you. |
Action |
|
Blur |
Ensures enemy attacks have Disadvantage, making it one of the defensive spells in Solasta 2. |
Action |
Best Wizard Feats In Solasta 2
Image Via Tactical AdventuresOnce the Wizard reaches Level 4, they'll be able to select a Feat from a list of options that's shared by every class in Solasta 2. These are the best Feats for the Wizard to choose from:
- Ability Score Improvement — Use this to try to max out your Intelligence or bring up your Dexterity and Constitution.
- Powerful Cantrip — This Feat provides a point of Intelligence, while also ensuring that Cantrips always deal half damage, even when they miss/an enemy passes its Saving Throw. Powerful Cantrip ensures you'll always be doing damage on your turn, even without spending spell slots.
- Uncanny Accuracy — Provides a single stat point and ensures your spells will avoid most forms of cover. This is an ideal choice for people who like the ray spells.
