Crimson Desert’s ‘TikTok Brain’ Fast-Forward Feature Has Fans Asking Why You’d Want To Skip The Game If It’s So Good

As spotted by IGN, journalist streamer Jake Lucky recently posted a clip of one of Crimson Desert’s most peculiar features in action: a “fast forward” option that lets you set the game’s cutscenes to triple speed. The internet, as it always does, has opinions about this, with many questioning why you’d even want to breeze over the dialogue if you’ve chosen to play an RPG in the first place.

“You’re… playing an RPG, but you’re happy you can skip dialogue?” reads one comment. “I’d like to play an FPS, but can we have a button that lets me skip the shooting?” Now, I have my own opinions on the opinions, but a quote reply follow-up to Jake Lucky’s tweet is the thing that really caught my eye.

A content creator by the name of SwanyPlaysGames chimed in to counter those making fun of the “‘TikTok’ brain” fast-forward feature. “People keep making fun of this. But I’ve played the game. When you die to a boss or need to reload a save, or want to do a 2nd playthrough. It’s nice to be able to skip dialogue… I actually wish they had a skip button and not just fast forward. Having the option to skip or fast forward isn’t a bad thing.”

It’s that last bit that’s getting me. I think the majority of us can agree that skipping or, in this case, fast-forwarding through dialogue during your first playthrough of a game is ridiculous. But for a second playthrough? Unless you’re unlocking new dialogue paths, I don’t see a problem with brushing past a cutscene you’ve already watched.

That’s my issue, though: why isn’t there a skip button? This fast-forward feature is an odd middle ground that achieves nothing. Either people will use it to Subway Surfers their way through a first playthrough, or they’ll have to endure a sped-up version of something they’ve already watched on a second playthrough. And this would all be fine…if Crimson Desert also included a skip button as well.

That being said, I’m going off of SwanyPlaysGames’ statement alone here. I have a feeling that if you hit the “Pause” prompt in a cutscene, there probably is a skip cutscene option afterwards. If that’s the case, this is a nothingburger. If it isn’t, this just feels like the devs have attempted to solve a problem by removing a feature that already solved it.
