Fans won't have to wait long for new episodes

Earlier this week, Critical Role shared that the cast's long rests would be a little different in Campaign 4. Usually, the cast takes the last Thursday of the month off from their main campaign to have a break before returning the week after. Sometimes, Critical Role will run a sponsored one-shot or talk show in place of the main campaign. However, things will be done differently now.
"Instead of a set last-Thursday-of-the-month break, we’ll be laying down our dice wherever the story finds a natural pause," Critical Role shared on their official blog. "We’ll also be taking time off around special holidays here in the States!"
Polygon reached out for further clarification on how episode breaks would work for each table during Critical Role Campaign 4. Unlike previous campaigns, which had a smaller cast, Campaign 4 has a rotating cast of 13 players, divided into three tables: Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers. With the West Marches format, each table takes its turn in the limelight for a handful of episodes before switching to the next. Which raises the question, would Critical Role breaks happen after a certain number of episodes per table?
Polygon reached out to Critical Role, and a company representative told us: "There is no set cadence for when these breaks will happen or how many episodes each table will receive."
Image: Critical RoleCampaign 4 represents a major shift in how Critical Role manages breaks, and it's for the better. While some fans might be disappointed that certain tables could have more time in the limelight than their favorites, Critical Role's decision to rest when it suits the story will make watching it unfold live feel more dynamic and engaging. There’s nothing worse than becoming invested in what an episode sets up at a table, then forgetting what happened during the week's break. With this new change, an arc can reach its culmination before shifting onto a new plot thread.
Currently, Critters have followed the adventures of both the Soldiers and Seekers tables. Next week, on March 19, the Schemers table will take the stage.
