Holy Crap, Vice City Looks Amazing In This New GTA 6 Clip

2 hours ago 2

I expected Grand Theft Auto 6 to be a big game. And every screenshot and trailer we’ve seen of it has only reinforced that idea. And yet, when I scrolled the newly updated official GTA 6 website today, I was stunned by the sheer scope of the world of Vice City. And I wasn’t alone.

On June 18, Rockstar Games revealed the official cover art for GTA 6 (don’t worry, it has a helicopter on it) and also announced that pre-orders for the highly anticipated game would go live on June 25 on console storefronts and at “select retailers.” It also quietly updated the official Grand Theft Auto 6 website a bit, adding the game’s cover artwork. And more excitingly, Rockstar added a new eight-second clip of Vice City to the site as you scroll down.

Thankfully, if you dig into the site’s code, you can pluck out the full, high-res video to gawk at. This is what longtime GTA leaker and dataminer TexFunz2 did, as you can see below:

And just…wow. I have a full-resolution version of the video on my PC, and I can’t stop looking at it. The city looks incredibly detailed and dense. You can look far off into the distance and see lights and buildings that look miles and miles away. It’s truly impressive. And keep in mind that Rockstar Games has historically used in-engine footage and real gameplay for all of their trailers. So this isn’t some pre-rendered nonsense, but instead a genuine look at what Vice City will look like in GTA 6. Wowza.

Reactions online were mostly positive, with some trolls claiming it looked bad, which is just sort of a wild thing to post online, but okay.

“The attention to detail in this city is insane,” posted one user about the new clip.

“What’s so beautiful about this is how the lights look at night time especially on the street. I just came back from Miami and the accuracy is literally insane,” said another person.

Another user shared a comparison of Vice City at night as it looked in the PS2 game compared to GTA 6‘s version of the city. It really sums up how far things have come in the 20+ years since Rockstar developed that game.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. You can pre-order the game starting on June 25. I don’t expect any delays this time.
