Eric Warner is a Journalist and Multimedia Producer based in New England with over seven years of experience producing stories for multiple print, online, radio, and video publications.

Eric has been a gaming fan ever since getting an original Xbox for Christmas in the early 2000's. From then on, he has become enthralled in the gaming world, spending thousands of hours in Halo multiplayer matches, climbing dozens of towers across the Assassin's Creed games, and 100% perfecting every single Horizon game to date.

When not writing for DualShockers Eric can typically be found playing games on his PS5, PC, and Xbox or reading sci-fi, horror, and fantasy books/comics.

After about a year-long delay, John Carpenter's Toxic Commando has finally released, marking the third time the legendary horror film creator has worked on a video game in terms of writing.

A squad-focused FPS similar to Left 4 Dead, Toxic Commando pits the titular mercenary team of Walter, Cato, Ruby, and Astrid into a zombie-filled nightmare as they strive to help Obsidian scientist and CEO Leon Dorsey quell the infection and defeat the Sludge God.

When playing Resident Evil Requiem, you play between Grace and Leon. Leon is meant to be action-packed, here are ways to make it extra fun.

While reluctant at first, the Toxic Commandos do agree to help Dorsey and the first proper mission in the game, Church of the Damned, has the mercenaries attempt to retrieve reactant fuel at the seemingly abandoned St. Godard's Church.

Players can complete this mission on any difficulty, but there's a rather tricky achievement/trophy tied to this mission that players may have a difficult time earning with that achievement/trophy being Hold the Door!

Preparing to Hold the Door

Only a few players have earned the Hold the Door! trophy, which is understandable as Toxic Commando has only recently launched, but also because it can be difficult to complete if players are ill-prepared.

The Church of the Damned mission can be played on either Story, Normal, Hard, or Very Hard difficulty, but I recommend attempting to earn this trophy on Normal difficulty to not make the task too challenging for players.

Additionally, this mission can be played in single-player or in online four-player co-op and while co-op would make earning this trophy easier for some people, it can be done in single-player if players know which materials and weapons to acquire.

Before actually starting this mission, I'd recommend solo players play as either the medic or the strike dealer class, as strike dealer's special ability can help take out more zombies while the medic can repeatedly heal themselves and teammates, which comes in handy since med kits can be hard to find.

Toxic Commando Spare Parts

In terms of weaponry, players should either use SMG's or assault rifles along with the automatic Geist 17 pistol, as those are generally better at crowd control compared to normal pistols and shotguns.

Once the mission begins, players should immediately open their map and mark areas with Spare Parts as these items will be extremely helpful towards the end of the mission and allow players and their teammates to open crates full of powerful weapons such as grenade launchers and railguns.

Along the way, it'd be better for players to resupply and drive a Maverick truck or other vehicles equipped with winches, as a winch can be used to access locked supply areas and help pull vehicles up muddy hills.

How to Defend St. Godard's Church

After reactivating a couple of generators for Dorsey, players will finally be able to access St. Godard's Church where they'll meet a small group of survivors led by a woman called Gallagher.

Gallagher won't let the Toxic Commandos in until they hold off an incoming wave of zombies, and they have a little bit of time to prepare for the horde before they knock on the door to alert Gallagher that they're ready.

This is where the Spare Parts come in, as people can use them to repair two turrets on either side of the church's door, one mortar cannon, two electric traps, an electric fence, and a bait trap to help fight the incoming zombie horde.

After knocking on the door, zombies will begin to attack the church in three waves, and it's best to use the turrets first to attack the zombies until players get overwhelmed or until special infected appear, such as the Charger-like Goon or the Spitter-like Stalker, where the mortar will come in handy.

These weapons and traps will help hold off the waves of zombies, but the mortar has limited ammo and, eventually, players may have to use their personal weapons to keep the zombies at bay.

In this instance, the Thumper and Hailstorm grenade launchers, as well as the MAG heavy machine gun, are the best weapons to keep zombie hordes at bay when the mortar runs out of ammo or the turrets overheat.

After a little while, Gallagher will be able to unleash a shock wave to wipe out the remaining zombies, which will end the mission, and if players do manage to defend the church well enough, they'll finally earn the Hold the Door! achievement/trophy.
