How To Increase Inventory Space In Mewgenics

Are you frustrated by the lack of inventory space in Mewgenics? There are hundreds of items in the game, but you can't even keep a few dozen of them at any given time. Fortunately, there's a series of upgrades that you can unlock, but we have to warn you that it's going to be an extremely time-consuming process.

Inventory space increase via Butch

To increase inventory space in Mewgenics, you need to "donate" a lot of cats to Butch. And Butch doesn't just want some random cats that found their way to your house. No, he needs cats that have reached new zones. This means you need to keep progressing with your clowder clan to unlock new acts and areas.

Butch wants you to deliver cats in batches of 20, with act/zone requirements that change as you increase upgrade tiers. We don't want to spoil the names of some mid-to-late-game zones, but he wants cats that have been to the following areas:

• Act 1 - Sewers or Junkyard
• Act 1 - Caves or Boneyard
• Act 2 - Branch A1 and B1
• Act 2 - Branch A2 and B2
• Act 3 - Branch A1 and B1
• Act 3 - Branch A2 and B2

Just like other NPC upgrades, the cats that you send to Butch will be gone for good. Evidently, you have to discern the following:

• Cats that remain in your home can continue breeding to make offspring with, hopefully, innate class-specific skills.
• Of course, cats that have cleared multiple zones ought to be at higher levels. Ideally, they should be fielded against house bosses that invade your humble abode.
• Cats that have completed adventures/are retired but do not meet Butch's requirements could be sent to Frank instead.

Managing your inventory: Buying items at the start of each day

Items that are not in your storage are lost when you end the day. However, at the start of each day, you can buy some goodies from Tracy's shop, like weapons or trinkets. Then, you can make a few adjustments to your storage if you go over the limit:

• Place some items that you're not planning to use anytime soon to the trash slots. For instance, perhaps you have gear pieces with effects related to familiars and minions. If you're saving those for a future run, just move them to the trash slots temporarily.
• Go ahead and do an adventure run and bring your newly purchased items with you. Make use of these with the classes that you prefer.
• Once you're back home, move the previous items back to your storage and use them for later runs. End the day and get rid of the items you don't need.

Managing your inventory: Info from the Tinkerer's Item Proxy passive

The Tinkerer class, in its own unique way, also helps you manage your inventory, too. That's because it can roll with the Item Proxy passive, which makes it easier to activate set bonuses:

• By default, you need three matching gear pieces to activate a set bonus.
• The Item Proxy passive decreases this requirement to just two gear pieces.
• If you somehow manage to upgrade this passive, it reduces that requirement to just a single piece of gear. That means equipping one item, assuming it's part of a set, is enough to activate an entire set bonus. You could, technically, have five or more active set bonuses in a single run.

Once you know the set bonuses, you can ascertain which items are viable for certain classes/builds. You can discard mediocre trinkets, armors, or weapons that aren't part of a set.
