Are you fervently wishing that you could somehow revive cats in Mewgenics? Contrary to popular belief, cats in the game don't have nine lives. They sort of have three, denoted by a counter when they get incapacitated (more on this later). As such, you really need to be careful when they're downed in battle. We've got a few tips to help you out in case you encounter a few mishaps.
Note: Are you just as curious as a cat? You can find all of our other guides in our Mewgenics guides hub.
What happens to cats that get incapacitated in battle?

When a cat's HP is fully depleted in battle, they're down and out for the count:
- A cat that's downed automatically receives an injury.
- A counter appears over their body. This is known as "corpse health" and it represents how many instances of damage they could survive.
- This counter starts at three by default and it decreases each time the corpse is hit. This includes area-of-effect (AoE) spells, knockback and thorns reactivity, and those that impact the entire arena/battlefield.
- If corpse health is fully depleted, the cat's body explodes into a gory mess. Outside of other effects, they're gone for good.
- If the body is revived or reanimated, or if you're able to finish the battle, the cat will be back on their feet, but their injury will persist. Thankfully, there are ways to heal injuries in the game.
Items that boost corpse health

Before we talk about various methods to revive cats in Mewgenics, let's talk about corpse health. If you think a character has a low chance at survival and upcoming battles are likely to have a lot of AoE damage, then you might want to increase their corpse health instead.
One such item, the Muertos Mask, grants +2 shield and +6 corpse health. That means a body has to take nine instances of damage before it's destroyed.
Spells for reviving your friends

Various active and passive skills can be used to revive cats in Mewgenics. We've listed a few examples below, but please remember that, unless your cats are born with these, you'd have to see them drafted as options when they level up:
- Collarless: CPR (6 mana) - Revive an adjacent body to +1 HP.
- Cleric: Awaken (1 mana) - Revive a body to +1 HP.
- Cleric: Revive (8 mana) - Revive a body to +50% HP and cure one of its injuries.
- Cleric: Born Again (10 mana) - Revive a body to +100% HP and give it All Stats Up, then you fall asleep.
- Cleric: Breath of Life (passive) - When you heal a downed unit, you also revive it.
Note: The Necromancer has skills that reanimate corpses, turning them into zombies. The class also has abilities where it proactively gets incapacitated/downed to enhance its spells.
Items that auto-revive

Certain items can be equipped either to revive an ally or to ensure that the wearer is automatically revived:
- Smelling Salts - Revive an adjacent unit to +1 HP. This item is automatically used on yourself at the end of the round if you're downed. Has 3x uses remaining.
- Hockey Mask - Grants +5 Shield. While downed, you have a +25% chance to revive with +1 HP at the end of the round.
- Death Mask - Get downed at the start of battle. Then, revive at the end of the first round with full HP and +2 Shield.
- Frank Bolts - Grants +2 Shield and Electric immunity. Electric damage revives you when you're downed.
- Face Wrap/Neck Wrap - Grants +1 HP regen; revive with 15% HP at the end of the round.
- Ankh - While you're downed, you have a +50% chance to revive with +33% HP at the end of each round.
- Set bonus: Mummy - When downed, inflict Rot 1 and Weakness 1 on all enemies, and you also revive with +30% HP at the end of the round.
The Cat Rib

The Cat Rib is a special item that you can equip on a character. It has a rather nifty effect that goes beyond mere revival. Instead, it circumvents the mechanic wherein a character's body is completely destroyed--i.e. the corpse health is fully depleted, the body is vaporized, or the body is torn apart. If equipped, a character whose body has been destroyed will be reborn as a kitten instead.
What happens when your cats perish?

Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention just what would happen if your team perishes. The run ends abruptly, pretty much. That said, a mysterious individual will scavenge the battlefield and bring back a few of the items you've lost. The more cats have died during the course of your entire playthrough, the more items will be recovered and added to the selection pool. You can only reclaim one item and the rest get discarded.
That does it for our guide on how to revive cats in Mewgenics. Since we talked about the Cleric and various spells, you're probably wondering about the best classes and best skills in the game.
Mewgenics has over a dozen classes, along with hundreds of skills and items, to keep future runs refreshing. You've got your work cut out for you, especially with countless potential synergies and random permutations. If you need more help, you can always take a look at our Mewgenics guides hub.
